There's also the fact that periscopes are for allowing military submarines to see what's on the surface while remaining concealed underwater. Research/exploration subs don't have periscopes and instead use cameras like the subs in Subnautica do.
Glad to see that the devs are taking extra time to finish the game. I would love to play a finished version of Subnautica, but this is just entertainment and is in no way essential (plus I've got a large enough backlog of other games as it is). It i…I voted for anywhere since that seemed like the catchall option.
My favorite spot for an epic base is the floating island. The island is nice to look at and just walk around on the paths and is relatively safe. Plus that central cove wit…Hopefully with the extra time the devs have given themselves, they can sit down and do a proper balance pass. Subnautica has always had a poor balance of resources, hopefully they can iron that out before release.

Yeah, I got that feeling too. The way it was worded about just being "good enough" also gave me the impression of the project burnout that @scifiwrite…(Quote)
Right now according to the Subnautica wiki, the Cyclops at flank speed is only doing 10.4 m/s, or about 20 knots. I know the world isn't all that big, but IMHO that's not particularly fast, especially given the speeds that real lif…Totally agree. Even with the relatively small map and warp gate network, there's still some places that take a fair amount of time to get to. Having a fast cruising speed on the Seamoth would be great (plus we could jump it higher out of the water..…(Quote)
I would love to see darker caves, but only if the devs rebalance the sonar to be a viable navigation tool instead of the novelty it is now with its excessive power usage. Some sort of sonar suit upgrade would be neat as well. We al…I don't use flares either. The flashlight is so easy to craft at the beginning of the game that there's really no need to bother with them. Especially since gathering crash powder requires dealing with suicidal living bombs.

I can relate to a lot of these points. While I'm not considered autistic, I do have many of the personality traits and was bullied a lot when I was in school. Games that make me feel helpless are not really fun for me either.

Agreed. I have no problem with the devs deciding to leave guns out of Subnautica and attempting to build a relatively nonviolent game.
However, I do have a problem with overly the overly aggressive AI and the lack of fu…(Quote)
Unfortunately you won't be able to overclock that. Those GPUs are integrated into the CPU, and Intel has locked down overclocking on everything except the K series chips (which are extremely rare in laptops).
Maybe ask …What kind of GPU does your laptop have? If it's nvidia, use Nvidia Inspector or MSI Afterb…Can we get some more information on what the specs are for the PC you're trying to run this on? Is it a laptop or a desktop?
If it has a dedicated GPU, you should be able to overclock it and get some additional performance that might be …(Quote)
The problem with that idea is that the only precursor facilities in the Lost River are the wrecked base and the small research outpost. There aren't really any facilities to pull the heat out of the water.
Maybe the cov…I like this idea (and actually suggested a similar thing several months ago, although with nowhere near as much detail).
I've always found it a bit immersion breaking that your character is seemingly immune to depth and can magically hop…Maybe instead of lava it's all just molten wax like in those lava lamps. That would explain the temperature.(Quote)
Which means that the average water temperature in the ALZ should be close to that as well. Ironically, the Lost River is the coldest place in the game (water is barely above freezing in the Tree Cove), which is directly above the L…I'm sure this has been mentioned already, but technically the game already does take place on a floating island. If you manage to get down to about 3000m off the edge of the map, you'll see that the entire game world is on a floating island in the v…This game already has plenty of challenge and fun. However, what it doesn't have is a good gating mechanism to prevent the player from swimming all over the surface right from the very beginning of the game (except for the radiation field around the…I would like to see the base building get some love. You're correct, it's been awhile since I played a serious survival game and I forgot that the reinforced divesuit now comes with gloves.
Do the reinforced gloves actually do anything though? Considering that the reinfor…I don't think it's a stupid idea. There's nothing else using the glove slot except for the radiation gloves, which are only useful for fixing the radiation leaks. After that, there's nothing useful to put in the glove slot. And then there's the more modern version:

ARK has an option for procedurally generated maps now, but the default Island map (and the other official maps) are all static.

I'm in disagreement that it will destroy the game. If the map is blank from the start, a new player still has to explore to see what's out there, plus they'll be able to actually find it again without having to waste resources putt…(Quote)
Totally agree. Several other survival games do this already, and it works well (although I still wouldn't mind an "easy" difficulty option with the traditional GPS style map available from the start).
