(Quote) Unfortunately, that conclusion is not supported by the facts. Comparatively, the competitive community is much weaker in NS2 than it was in NS1. My guess is that without UWE's targeted support (sponsored tournaments), it would be a ghost …

Interesting graph, good job. I would suggest you increase the granularity of the version numbers though, the ones you have now are very misleading. The period between what you have designated as 2.0 and 3.0 was actually mostly different beta version…

Yup, if you see some awesome ns2 themed artwork, there's at least a 99% chance rantology made it.
Hope you're enjoying these and please don't hesitate to give us feedback; be it suggestions for improving the show or future content.

(Quote) Because it isn't an advantage for Archaea. Even playing out a full best of 9 wouldn't actually be particularly tiring, when it's the only games you play that day. We swap players out to make sure everyone on the team gets to play and paid…

(Quote) Most games are won by forcing the other team to make mistakes. It's a shame about the jetlag, though, I know some of your players were really struggling with sleep deprivation.
On our side of things, I had big hardware problem… -
Just got back home from Cologne, and it was a blast. The event itself was great fun of course, but I also really enjoyed finally meeting nexzil (great guys!) and wasabi, and just drinking beers and talking to everyone. Meeting up with the other arc …

(Quote) Drug tests are such a hassle. Professional cyclists should totes be allowed to agree not to do them.

I agree with swalk on this. If both teams agree to waive demo recording, they could feasibly both be cheating. That's no way to run a league.
ENSL needs to start spot checking for demos, though, otherwise having a no-exceptions rule that… -
Warning No formatter is installed for the format

(Quote) What would be the point of that? I didn't want demos, I wanted to make sure everyone recorded their games. The ENSL should always do what I "threatened" to do, in every tournament, especially ones with prizes, but since they don't, I had …

(Quote) This is something I've been saying since the early beta. Welcome.

(Quote) Well, this is pretty much what I was worried about when I wrote my posts on the subject on the ensl forums. The lowhealth removal is straight up cheating. Unless ensl forces it on for the entire league, this shouldn't be tournament legal …

(Quote) A combination of poorly thought through rules, ping differences and team peculiarities combined to make this happen, unfortunately. Consider this: Saunamen's marine play is very strong, but their alien play is comparatively weak. They are…

(Quote) Nope, I restricted it to pretty much the same servers as you, except for the nexzil servers, since I don't know which of of them is private or not, competitive games, 1.-4. march and build 240 only, which results in 46%/54%. If I include …

44% alien / 56% marines with the ping differential matches (these numbers also include some pcws, couldn't sort them out easily). If you cut all those out, it would end up pretty close to 50/50.
Very psyched about this. The event last fa… -
Alright, I misunderstood you then. Agreed on weaker but cheaper.

I want to say thanks to all the great admins, referees and casters and all our opponents for another fantastic tournament. I had a lot of fun playing this weekend and I think the patch has been, for the most part, a great success.

Marine vs. alien win stats from the tournament has been pretty close, with marines having a slight percentage wise advantage (yesterday it was 52%/48%). Unfortunately rounds between american teams and european teams are causing a lot of problems, be…

Yup, blatant aimbot, wallhack and pistol macro. Nice little combo of everything there.

(Quote) Unfortunately, an attempt was made to reinvent the wheel (walljumping), and further attempts are being made (new system), so you can expect to have to do it many more times.
-
(Quote) No, this is not true. The winrates from competitive games today (excluding gathers, but some pcws might be included) is 48.73% alien and 52.27% marine.
I will agree that it's a shame to see the patch one day before the tournam… -
The skulk movement is fine, the game is actually balanced now. Why is this worth complaining about?
-
As for the on-topic discussion, this tournament has been great fun so far, and it's about to get even better. 16 teams have been reduced to 8 after the first group stage, and we're now entering the second group stage. Only the best teams remain and …

(Quote) Considering that nine out of ten public skulks never even jump from walls, let alone chain jumps from them, I don't think they'll think much of it at all. This is a change that mostly nerfs aliens in comp play, and shouldn't have much eff…

Stats from comp games so far show 48% alien wins and 52% marine wins. That's pretty damn good. It was high time for some changes to the skulk to make it more predictable, and it looks like it's a great success so far. It's still perfectly possible t…
