I only mentioned Unity because it shows that UWE were willing to try something other than Spark - I don't think Unity is appropriate for what is being discuss here, and other engines like UE4 or Source2 etc are far more powerful and flexible for FPS…

There are plenty of reasons to believe that NS3 done properly would have a good chance of being way more successful than NS2. Look at how CS has evolved from 1.6 to source to csgo - it hasn't exactly reinvented the wheel with each … -
@IronHorse
I think UE4 offers more than just "ease of modding" and "prettier graphics" (esp in code department), but that's just my opinion and something for… -

Supporting the "little guy" doesn't have to mean having blind fervor for everything they produce.
UWE did a great job building their own engine from scratch, and they should be proud of it. But the landscape has complet… -

Whatever your opinion of DB might be, it is still one of the closest examples of an indie level f2p game not being particularly effective. Everything you have pointed out that is an issue with DB has been seen in NS2 at one point o… -

TF2 is a bad example to use - when that game went F2P it still had a relatively large active player base. It also has decent performance across all setups, the marketing budget of valve, the association of valve as a label, and mor… -
Ok - so you haven't actually stated what is wrong with the current fade movement other than it doesn't look as immersive, which is not a legitimate reason to change it.
The older iterations of fade were also much more unintuitive to play… -

What makes you think the current 'balance' or gameplay is working? Just because it is stable / hasn't changed much recently and that the 200/300 odd daily players are used to it doesn't mean there aren't issues within the core game… -

NS2 was never an e-sport. I despise the notion that a game can't appeal to a pub/casual audience and a competitive one at the same time. This idea that NS2 turned out the way it did because it was catering towards competitive playe… -

The focus can shift, and other issues should definitely be addressed as well, but there are still a large amount of people out there who encounter performance issues. Unfortunately these are the people that the game hemorrhages, wh… -

You are not looking at the bigger picture here. I myself am satisfied that progress has been made toward a point where performance is better, but i have the luxury of running high end OC hardware that the average person does… -
thank you mendasp for all the work you have done - your efforts were very much appreciated abroad in the AusNS2 community. Your mods/nsl maps etc were a strict requirement on all of our league servers and local servers, and were honestly a big part …

what are these advanced strategies you speak of ? Please tell us how you think the game is meant to be played. -
survey is now closed and the results are in. Thank you to all who took the time to complete it.

Let’s be realistic here. NS2 is nearly 3 year…
A couple of reasons:
1. What's the point in modding for a scene this size which shows no sign of recovery: http://steamcharts.com/app/4920

Hurtful yes, but in reality making games is a job - it's a business, it requires you to sell a product to target audience and it has to be well thought out and of a high quality to succeed. Yes it's hard work, yes it probably invol…don't understand why people think this community is toxic. When you compare it to games like CS:GO or LoL it's really not bad at all.(Quote)
