Well, that could work too, but ELO is more a metric of player skill, which isn't what i'm talking about so much as just experience. I think dividing people by skill-level is not a great idea as you improve fastest when you play against people who ar…

(Quote) I think you really underestimate the size of the competitive scene in NS2. Before the free weekend the number of concurrent NS2 players hadn't hit 2000 for over 2 weeks. Competitive players are in general, very active, I don't think it is…

Maybe try deleting your "%appdata%/natural selection 2/cache" folder. This makes the game recompile all the shaders again as if you are running it for the first time, can take a few minutes the first time you join a game but it might fix your proble…

Phew, I was starting to think it was just me.

What I was suggesting was that something like this would allow their to be a small number of servers that would be refuges for people to get away from the general FFA that is public play. I clearly stated in the OP that the default would be t…

You're right, all the rookies would do that because they are desperate to get stomped by experienced players. You, sir/madam, strike me as delusional. I await your further attempts to argue the futility of my suggestion with bated breath.

(Quote) I agree that there should be a limit to what can be customised, but I think the HUD should fall within that limit. By allowing only the "ui/*.dds" files all people can do it make cosmetic changes to their HUD, they can't remove sounds or …

Not necessarily talking about skill, as you can see I never used that word in my post. Talking about experience, which I think correlates with game sense, listening to commander, working as a team, not making rookie mistakes, and many other things t…

Really, no one has anything to say about this?

(Quote) It's just a different type of NS2, there is no reason the whole map should be a battleground all the time. One of the things I like the most about small games is that the action shifts from place to place across the map as the round progr…

I think the problem with having the camera anywhere but the centre of the model would be what happens to the model when you try to move your view only, i.e. move the mouse but don't press any of the keys. Currently the model just spins around it's <…

I like this idea. I definitely think NS2 needs some sort of tracking to allow server admins to filter the level of players that can join their server, I made a post earlier today in this forum about an idea I had for using players' total playtime as…

It's a nice idea - no one likes getting egglocked, but it could also be really unfair if marines have made a great timing rush, sent 4 guys in with shotguns and welders, caught the aliens unaware and locked down their hive, and then for 15 res the a…

terrifying, I didn't realise how much NS2 marines look like Bane until now...

(Quote) Well, internet fairplay usually has to rely on individuals being honourable to a certain extent, NS2 seems to have a better community than most in this regard so I don't know that that would really be a big problem.

Placing clogs is still a problem in b243. Only way I can see to place clogs vertically on top of each other is to stand on top and place it underneath you, obviously not ideal when there is a marine on the other side...

Main issue has been fixed in 243, infestation does show up in minimal and the streak across centre of view has gone, thankfully. However there are still issues with minimal infestation in some places I have noticed.
Rich infestation:(Quote) Yes, I don't know what the best solution is, but getting rid of the current system would be an improvement imo. Yes it sucks when one team starts leaving, the winners then feel their victory is somewhat hollow, but forcing players on that…OK, I thought it might be possible to leave a gap big enough to cyst through but not fit an ARC, guess not.Couldn't you just put an obstacle against each wall in that 'vent' to stop ARCs going through, something that you could still cyst around?(Quote)
Why are you being so judgmental, do you think that will make people want to help you more? Because I don't think it will. You should just try to explain what the problem is and how to fix it (if you know). This game is developed by…With infestation on minimal I don't see any infestation except for a streak across the middle of the screen, it's very distracting but I am loathe to turn on rich infestation. Has anyone else got this or is it just me?
P.S. in Build 242 Live on Steam - Natural Selection 2 Comment by YoungTrotsky March 2013If you are using vsync try also setting maxfps 60 in console (or whatever your refresh rate is), that makes the stuttering go away for me. You might want to bind a key to "maxfps 60" because it gets reset after each mapchange. There is no official support for this, I think UWE probably feel that servers that want to have these features can use a mod, DAK admin kit is the most common and can be configured so the server still appears "unmodded" in the server browser. Any pl…(Quote) Doesn't for me, never heard anyone else mention that either, does that happen all the time for you?

Don't know if you are aware but one of the sensory hive upgrades in NS1 was basically that, it effectively made it as though all marines within a radius were parasited so you could see them through walls and on the minimap. It was …(Quote)
Yes, but it's dependent on several factors like skill of the marine commander and how much the marines you happen to be playing against look at their map, so I think it would be quite a frustrating upgrade compared to the simplicit…(Quote) Silence is incredible useful, some top teams (archaea for example) go shade hive before shift hive in most games.
I think an ability that's only attribute was to make you invisible to scans would be pretty underpowered compare…(Quote)
You obviously play on a way better public servers than I do, in the majority of public games I've played in where exos made a significant showing (by which I mean there were exos on the field for any length of time), the aliens jus…
