It's about half as good as NS1.
While the motion is better, the gameplay is less interesting and the balancing is absolutely terrible. Most matches are one way, the good old days of a constant struggle and balance of power can now only b… -
I think the game is dead, its 1:25pm here and the server with the lowest ping (I'm on fibre) is 170ms. There's 10 servers empty with a ping under 100. Just 14 servers with enough players for a match.

It was a terrible game. Got boring after a day and a bit.
It's like COD for people with even less patience, kill a lot, die a lot, no skill, same thing each round. Wall jumping was cool, everything else was below meh. -
What's all this talk of match making, few people wanted it. Most people would prefer finding one themselves, then they can get it right.
People wanted 1) Performance, 2) Balancing, 3) Fix for the bad voting mechanics, 3) Maps, 4) Content… -
The fact of the matter is, NS2 failed. It's not what I nor anybody was expecting when we pre-ordered the game. Early in the development I remember a post something like "We're using ATI 2600xt video cards. This will ensure we save money by using med…

Try PhysX enabled, you have a nVidia and seemingly a bottleneck by the cpu.

I accidentally voted for the wrong one. Currently voting is very broken and does not work well at all.

Very nice map! Can't wait till servers use this.

He's shiny, really cool!

Go back to playing COD.
Your attempt at trolling failed miserably.

It's the influx of new players.
If you had two competent teams, chances are Marines would be able to overpower the Aliens. Due to the excessive buffs from reinforced and the alien nerfs. -
I'm having the other problem of all servers over 16 people in Australia/New Zealand don't have Eclipse in the map rotation.
I haven't been able to play this map properly. 16 isn't a decent figure. *Licks a tear drop suspended on my cheek* -
Any news on the current status of the server? I haven't seen it available for the past 2 builds.
It's unfortunately the only server in our area which can handle 20 players or more. -
Nerf not remove jump.
Everything was fine before Reinforced. -
Well the game would have more players if it was better optimised. Just putting it out there.

(Quote) The original was actually really good, sure things could have been better, it was a lot of fun and had a lot of really good mods.
-
This is something the game really could benefit from, I never thought there'd be official modded servers.
It may make some of the other lazy servers step their game up, vanilla NS2 is in a really poor state. -
(Quote) I was thinking Alien nerfs too, it's extremely likely. The UWE team have been focusing on this every patch from Reinforced onwards.
-
Perhaps some form of script tolerance checking would allow mods which may not tap into potentially game breaking/cheating systems.
There's so many ways to improve performance through modding, but they've got a rather primitive mod system… -
I get the feeling somebody at UW keeps wanting to nerf Aliens and buff Marines. I'm aware others are feeling the same way.
It's been really annoying finding the spot for the tunnels, places which are on the ground cannot be placed becaus… -
Looks like they need to determine whether turning left or right based on its current angle would make for the smallest turning arc.
A little snip, use equivalent vector functions.

Modifying only certain client sided aspects is a little saddening.

They can't compete with a single Onos now, I just charge in and take out a couple of them. Was better when they were a challenge. -
They poorly implemented music to the point it's unnecessarily loud at some points or when you're trying to talk/listen to people.

@Also take all this Mantle talk with a grain of salt. AMD isn't known to make things efficient or bug-free.
Sure you're not talking about Unknown Worlds? The fact… -
I have to agree, these are only scratching the surface of NS2 issues.
A couple of weeks ago when the classic gamemode was played, it felt like an entirely new game, and it was actually a lot more fun. For NS2, 249 was certainly the best … -
The incompetent developers are killing the game, not the community.
They've practically abandoned the game with so many exploits/flaws/issues. -

Why not instead make jp's have 2x fuel instead of fixing motion and increasing jump height. Welcome to Reinforced. -
Unfortunately it's 4 square boards. So the hardware is even crappier than they could have put in. Which lets face it, wouldn't be good to begin with.

Another great waste of resources. Why the hell would a high and game support Mac. They're pieces of trash.
Quite literally:
