Could these pillars perhaps be "anchor" points for floaters? I mean those Boulders You always see them clinging on to for Dear life kinda match the same look..

I just realized that I didnt mention that the base wetsuits would be fabricated normally, and all upgrades could be done on the modification station ( that little gem needs more use )

I had a similar thought about depth and wetsuits, not that I'm trying to spotlight my suggestion and ideas. But are you thinking something along this line?
