So, that implies that Marines can SEE cloaked Aliens in some way?
-
Oh my... Descent looks exceptional. The aesthetics are superb and fit my tastes perfectly, I am really impressed by the mappers. Amazing job guys. The Railguns, flying alien gibs, decals, Babblers and tunnels look awesome as well. Can't wait!

Looks interesting indeed. Although it seems to me that it's more similar to Fallout: Tactics than to Fallout 1 or 2. That's not to say it looks bad, just more combat oriented.

I can confirm this issue. Having a very high DPI set on the mouse makes playing as a commander difficult due to extremely fast cursor movements. Playing as a foot soldier is OK since you can lower in-game sensitivity for aiming. Unfortunately it doe…

Yeah, real Railguns will most likely fire solid tungsten projectiles. Their pure kinetic energy (coming from incredible launch velocity) will be enough to pulverize the target. Besides, that much energy will probably also rapidly melt the projectile…

Red plug. Judging by the log it looks like a rendering problem.

How about making Nanoshield gradually restore armor over time without granting any other form of damage reduction. This would allow the commander to fully resupply a Marine in enemy territory. The slow armor restoration would also provide some boost…

Wow, another point for the good guys

I personally like the new look a lot. Maybe this is because I'm a fairly new user, but still, I find the forum functional and visually pleasing.

C&C knockoff? Don't be ridiculous. Supreme Commander was de facto a sequel to the venerable Total Annihilation strategy game. If I recall correctly Chris Taylor was the lead designer of TA but didn't own the IP. Anyway, it's a shame to see Gas P…

What a waste. A magnificent chance for a really great gaming experience squandered. How could Gearbox let this happen? Even if they had to choose between developing Borderlands 2 and Colonial Marines, why did they choose BL? Aliens IP is much bigger…

Where's my Railgun?

While I'm in the no-acceleration-ever camp, I also believe that you can learn to be effective with any settings. So, if you do well with acceleration on in L4D, that's great! I think that your problems in NS2 may be caused by other factors like low …

You are correct. In SC1 there are very small differences in the gathering speeds between SCVs, Drones and Probes. In SC2 though, they all work with the same efficiency.
As for Cysts - maybe they should work similarly to… -
Sure man, I'm just producing ideas here. I think that no matter which approach will be used, it is important to have a mod like this and give more exposure to the economy problems in NS2. Hopefully this could lead to some changes in the official bui…

Yes! The key is having the option to choose: specific lifeforms (drop eggs) or greater flexibility (give pres)! Giving pres is faster and simpler, players don't need to return to the hive to get the eggs and they can choose the lifeform that suits b…

I'm not sure I understand.
Example: the commander decides to never use the hypothetical "give pres" ability, every team member has 0 pres. Later, the commander decides to put 1 Gorge egg and 2 Lerk eggs using tres, same as it is possible… -
Well, with the "give pres" system, the commander still can choose to not give any resources to players and spawn eggs/weapons instead. That way he/she still has the option to have complete control over team composition.
As for bad player… -
How about the approach I mentioned in your economy thread Xarius, the "give pres" ability for the commander. It would be equally easy to implement, would avoid problems with Hydras and would allow players to have some degree of free choice when it …

If you can't stomach being told that you are a shitty commander then maybe you don't have what it takes to lead others. It's no easy job and not everyone is expected to be able to do it. I see no problem with Cim's suggestion.

Hm, I think you're right! Making empty Exos repairable and allowing Marines to hop in and out of their Exo would solve the repair and build problems without the need of adding any extra content. Sounds good. Having a short animation when entering or…

Yes, I think that's like the Alien pres should work. One of the devs said somewhere that they wanted to give the commanders on both sides the ability to choose between spending resources on tech or "army", just like in standard RT… -
Yeah, I agree that Exos shouldn't act as Heavy Marines. That's why I don't support the idea of Heavy Flamethrower. Exos should have their own, special set of weapons along with their severely limited mobility to make them unique.
Still, … -

An Onos can easily take a couple of Marines on its own, especially with Stomp, while a single Skulk can be a serious problem to a lone Exo. So yes, you can kill the opposition with a lone Onos just fine if you play cautiously.
Wow, this is a really complex subject, but as a veteran gamer, I'll try to share some of what I've learned.

Having a super costly 'gaming gear' doesn't help as much as one would think. The most important thing is to …I think these ideas are mostly very good.
The double Claw (fist) exo variant would function as a relatively cheap and fast (for an exo) meat shield protecting the infantry behind it and clearing Whips and other structures. The main idea …Warning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipb
