You're referring to sea treaders I suppose?
The wiki puts the depth of that biome at 170m - 360m.
We're considering a you've-lost-basically-everything scenario. Swimming to that depth and making it back to t… -

This was a completely fresh game started from scratch with this update. -

Yeah I'd read and expected that. But this was in multiple spots throughout the caves which definitely weren't in the lava, eg. right at the entrance where you first drop down into the tunnel. -
Yes that card really should be good enough. Mine is worse and I have no problems.
Are you overclocking your card?
I experienced something very similar to you playing Titan Quest with a radeon card, except it wasn't location s… -

It's just like you haven't even played the game.
The cyclops can't fit inside the lava castle caves.

I've played in those areas over the last few days and not crashed.
Since it's not happening to others (seemingly) and in just the one area, the mostly like culprit is your graphics card. It might be struggling to render all those flashy … -
More and more we can put to some kind of use wouldn't suck.

That's good news. -

Of course there'll always be someone willing to decry that any given thing in a game is overpowered. Cos that qualifies as a good time to some folk.
But it's just increased energy capacity. In a single player game. In a… -
If it's problematic to fix, I say ditch it. I've never used it.
Are there any sufficiently complex wrecks or cave systems to really justify it?
Possible alternative - adhesive dual-coloured glowing stickers. Say blue and red.… -
If anyone's having trouble with these, I found 4 fragments on the seafloor around the sparse reef wreck. Pretty easy and safe to reach.

Well this was a new game and many of the signals are granted in the manner it describes. As soon as you craft something or upon entering a particular area.
-
Performance has definitely improved since the last time I played. I can now pilot the seamoth normally without the game struggling to load everything as I speed across the map.

They're not a problem for me but I've been playing for a long time. You hear their loud and very distinctive sound, pick a direction without a crash fish in your view, swim in a straight line and don't stop until you hear them explode. Then go loot …

Not according to the wiki, as per the link I provided.
Though I can confirm that it seems to have the specifics wrong. I just crafted an MBV (finally) and it gave me the lifepod 17 signal.
The game isn't pro… -
Ok, so I've been at the wiki and unless it's out of date, it's not a matter of 'following the story' but of crafting random stuff to get signals.

You can get the fragments from there easily as soon as you have the seamoth.Use the tunnel down from the safe shallows which opens directly above the abandoned seabase. Park the seamoth above its crush de…(Quote)
Assuming everything's working.
That one game I referred to, I couldn't find any moonpool fragments on the seabed where I typically could. Where I had several times in the previous few days in different playthroughs, and…(Quote)
Completely irrelevant.
The ONLY large, slow moving creatures we see are reefbacks. There is absolutely no survival value in being able to detect the things which could distinguish between reefbacks and the cyclops. None…(Quote)
Alien technology which we may be able to operate, but not necessarily understand or recreate ourselves.(Quote)
That doesn't make any sense. I can only repeat what I said earlier.
An apex predator like the leviathan gains nothing from being able to detect or distinguish between extremely slowly moving large objects like the cyclo…Possibly removed because they were pointless.
You need heat for the thermal plant. But you don't need a thermometer to tell you that it's hot enough eg. near volcanos and thermal vents, and not in most other places.I've checked and it wasn't that I wasn't noticing signals. I don't have any apart from the lifepod (as in the starter one, not a wreck).(Quote)
It has always been slightly quirky. Like I've started multiple new games in quick succession to test things, and occasionally end up with a game where some fragments aren't where I can usually reliably find them. In one game I foun…(Quote)
That's an understandable sentiment and I too would have loved to be able to play Subnautica with others. But it's not a matter of right v wrong. It's a matter of feasible v not.

Faculties like eyesight can devolve or completely disappear if they provide no advantage, eg. species of blind fish that live in total darkness.

I'm very selective about what I collect until I've created a permanent base.
I just gather enough to build a basic base, a couple of planters, 2 lockers, seamoth and cyclops. Thanks everyone. I'll play follow-the-signals and see if that helps.
I'm in the habit of ignoring them because previously they always pointed to completely random things I already knew from earlier playthroughs.1) Thermal vents definitely. Easy power is hard not to like.
2) It's quite pretty.
3) Once upon a time, it used to be free of any aggressive fishies. That's changed but many may have just gotten into the habit of making a ree…
