This is a technical impossibility given the fact that source at the time was a forward rendered game that lacked dynamic lighting and whole host of modern features. Heck... source just went deferred about a year ago...

100% worth it.
NS2 is quite a demanding game for many reasons some more justified than others, but I would take this engine any day over the dinosaur/ugly duckling that is souce or UE3.
Seriously, those engines are so undynam… -

Never ever heard of that. Pretty sure it is not true. -
Just so everyone knows, the GPU PhysX also does not work for me. THe GPU dispatcher is dispatched... but neither Afterburner or NVCP report that it is functioning.

A lot of games have full body and correct head positionng with shadows (Crysis, Riddick Games, Arma, etc...)
Being able to see your character shadow would be quite nice in NS2. Not sure if it would be out of sync though with the view pos… -

(Quote) Do you have any viedo card mointoring software like MSI afterburner of EVGA precision?
If so, could you perhaps download that, turnit on, make sure it is recording VRAM usage and then play with your normal settings (aka, text… -
This sounds similar to the problem that @IronHorse and I have. It is related to texture streaming and occurs speicifcally at locations on different maps.

(Quote) Thanks for the awesome reply. I was just making a suggestion and trying not to accuse or anything. I do not know the specifics obviously.
Good to hear that you see the ESL studio as worth it.

What is your comp/settings? I do not get a massive drop in falls at all. -
I think cost reduction could be something which everyone looks after. I can imagine that there are somethings which are nice (in terms of production quality), but are ancillary to needing to broadcast or get these teams together to play. Perhaps an …

(Quote) Hey Cori, thanks for the information and nice words. I think you highlight something though.

(Quote) What are the statistics of 32 bit OSs anymore? Let alone those who play NS2.
Strange that someone would knowingly grab a 32 bit OS any longer consider how long 64bit has been available (13 years?). -

I would of course love to play a map like Derelict or Discovery. I do not mind playing the previous official maps though, still just as fun as ever.

those netbook cpus would kick out like, sub 30fps in this game.

I honestly have no idea anymore. I think I made it when I was in... 7th or 8th grade? Something to do with me beating my friends in starcraft or something.

played the beta.. was not impressed.

Just so everone knows... the latest Nvidia drivers still do not fix this problem. I still, of course, highly recommend using 327.23 with the custom SLI bits in DX11.

SSD is integral to preoper NS2 performance.
Also, since you do have SLI. Shoot me a PM. We should work out together how to get that best running on given your specs. -
My largest problem with NS2 post1.0 is (and only problem really), oddly enough, the lack of transparency some times as to what is being released.
I can understand wanting to generate "hype" for marketing reasons, but there has been defin…
