Right not we're disincentiveized to kill creatures because... well... they don't drop anything. I was really disappointed when I knifed a stalker to death and didn't get shark steaks and stalker teeth. I mean... come on.

Okay... except I didn't spawn that. I found it in the lava zone.

Try rotating the scanner room. That actually let me connect it to my base, because only certain walls can connect via tunnels. But yeah, the moon pool was very finicky with its placement.

As far as I can tell, this is already planned. They are actively adding story areas/enemies/PDA's. And I think there is an actual option of 'Story Mode' that will be added at some point.
