  • Firstly, post this in Technical Support Forum. You could also try sending IronHorse a PM. He's awesome and deals with most tech support questions :)

Pretty sure that is the case. if your already spawning in when the beacon goes off, you'll spawn instantly at the destination. You just need to make sure you've got 5-11 IP's to make sure everyone spawns for the beacon xD

Both valid points, though i wouldn't say that alone would be a reason not to implement it. theres significant risk v reward getting your marine in there, finding a free spot, getting power up, the res involved in building the obs, …
  • (Quote) That doesn't sound too dissimilar to a ninja pg at the hive though...

It could certainly reduce the costs of getting your 2nd base up early/mid game. No need to rush that 2nd CC if your guys beacon to the obs instead.
  • I still remember the first time i saw a marine comm beacon from an out of base obs.. we heard the sound going, took out the power before it completed and assumed we were safe only to have a full team of SG marines appear. We lost 2 Fades and an Onos…

Observatories beacon you to the closest CC. From Nano-grid, this is control.

I'm in favour of beacons respawning all dead marines, but mostly because alien players seem to think it's the case anyway. I can't count the n…
  • these matches were some of the best ns2 matches I've ever seen. I had work to do during the time these were occurring, but it fell by the wayside as my eyes were glued to the screen throughout the entire thing.

    I watched the first 2 Godar…
  • I wouldn't pay $5 for a single badge either.  99c-$1.99 sure,   for $5 i'd like a collection to choose from. They've already got vector images of various lifeforms and weapons, so yeah, it really wouldn't require much time to implement them as badge…
  • (Quote) The Rifle has a higher DPS than the Shotgun, whether you choose to believe it or not.
Flamethrower has more ammo than the shotgun. click 8 times with a shotgun and your out of ammo in your clip, do so with the flamethrower …

  • (Quote) Maybe, although it's a fairly old game now, so i'm not sure how appealing it'd be for businesses such as HumbleBundle to include it... There's also the questions of compatibility and what responsibility UWE would have to support…
  • It needn't be limited to Armor or weapon upgrades. The number of times i've heard questions like "are shotguns coming?", "how long till jetpacks?", "do we have exo's?" etc. is enough to suggest being able to see the upgrades and their progress could…
  • (Quote) Custom taunts sound awesome! though it would require recordings in the various languages NS2 has been released in, I'm confident it'd be financially viable too
  • (Quote) I'll try to make this as clear as possible and respond to each point you've made.

Firstly i'd like to point out that there are very few asymmetrical FPS/RTS games like NS2, so to expect me to find an example of a one …

  • In principle, this is a great idea though it could cause some visual clutter for players. I would agree whole heartily with it if upgrades and current research progress was available at the click of a button rather than constantly visible on-screen.…
  • I don't think there is any way of knowing what consistency checks the server has in place, however, most servers (modded or not) only allow HUD customizations such as different cross hairs. It's honestly not something worth getting yourself worried …
  • (Quote) No, the skulk is both alive and dead simultaneously until the box is opened
  • (Quote) Please point out where in my post did i say you cannot engage marines shot-gunners heading to your hive. I stated that you do not necessarily have to engage them. If it's an engagement you can't win, and there is no benefit in t…

  • Strofix,
Your opening paragraph can be disregarded as you specifically state that you do not find the fact shotguns very easily killing skulks to be an issue (which is what the OP has issue with, amongst other things)

    On to the secon…

  • (Quote) Firstly, in none of the examples given did i mention a shotgun. Secondly, the shotgun in battlefield 3 is a poor example of a 1 hit weapon (although it is one). Do you feel that vulnerable running around with a sniper rifle in t…

  • I don't believe I missed the point.

    1. One shot weapons have existed in multiplayer games since Doom. Some examples Include;
BFG (Doom/Quake) Energy Sword (Halo) Gravity Hammer (Halo) Sniper Rifles (Call Of Duty/Counter Strike/ Almos…

  • My guess is that your moving so fast the server hasn't registered your position when inside that death zone (look at the way you're teleporting whilst moving). Try making the death zone considerably larger and see the results.
  • Unless marines rush shotguns at the expense of other upgrades, they should be coming out roughly the same time as lerks...The later the match goes on, the less effective the skulk is at killing marines, and they're supposed to take a support role to…

  • You may be right about refinery, I've not played it much recently (Thanks to the Chasm exploit)... anyway, the point is medpacking is more cost effective than RT checking in match begin: drop medpak at techpoint = voila there is the hive! - exploit ? Comment by Chizzler May 2013

Actual round (with Cheats enabled). Trust me, I'm right on this one :)
  • (Quote)
You only ever need to drop up to 2 medpacks. That itself confirms the hive location, so you lose 2 res. Half the amount for RT checking.
  • (Quote)
Just tested. It gave 8 res back. It only gives the full amount if an alien travels through it
  • (Quote)
I'd much rather drop 1-2 res on medpacks than tie up 10-20res in extractor blueprints (you only get 80% back if recycled). Medpacking hives is more cost effective.

Mineshaft - Try sneaking onto a low ledge at the waterfall in Cave with a grenade launcher. I've solo'd that hive several times (with a couple of ammo packs) as Aliens can't see you and fail to follow the trajectory of the grenade…
  • Without giving too much away, there are several marine spawn points that (with some poor obs placement) allow a skulk to sneak in and evolve into a gorge, drop a tunnel entrance, kill itself to avoid detection, re-evolve (with a T-res gorge), place …
