It'd be neat if you had to scan things to get a blueprint (e.g. the enzyme blueprint only becomes available after you've scanned *everything*)

I've used them as temporary markers to illuminate an area.
However, their value is much reduced due to the overall ambient light in most biomes. It'd be nice to see an ambient light option in addition to the FOV option in the future! -

I built a base that projects a viewing gallery out into the void... the player is protected in the base but the Leviathans spawn - I get four of them swimming around my glass tube.
Being safe doesn't make me not freak out. -
It is essentially in the bulb zone... it'd be nice to see a connection to some of the mountain cave system at some point. But the bulb zone is the area to explore... although it is perhaps best to just explore without hints
