@shonan You should probably include your sound card in the "Specs" section of your OP. Might as well include the relevant settings that you're using in the driver software …

I was wondering the exact same thing. The two paragraphs beginning with the words "Judge: After ten seconds..." are a bit confusing.
To me, it seems more like a description of how the respawn mechanic would be pr… -
The next time I find myself involved in violent protests and rioting, I'll be sure to take a giraffe with me to whack tear gas grenades back at the cops.

The think that the type of person who is likely to purchase an Oculus Rift is the same type of person who owns a computer that maintains 60+ fps in NS2. -
I will pay $100 to Unknown Worlds right now if they agree to NOT put any further character customizations into NS2.
Hopefully, the Gorgeous update will produce the uptick in revenue required to prove that free content updates are … -
In addition, the aim accuracy required to successfully pick up a weapon seems a bit unnecessary to me.
Actually, after testing it in an empty server, it seems to me like it's not an accuracy issue that makes picking up weapons clumsy. I … -

This sort of statement makes me cringe slightly. I can understand why you might feel this way but the reality is that people make poor choices for themselves all the time. These range from tragic, life-affecting choices right down … -
(Quote) Due to the phenomenon I described above, a 60Hz monitor can actually display more than 60 FPS while V-Sync is disabled. It just won't display all of every frame. With a frame rate of 240 FPS on a 60Hz monitor with V-Sync disabled, you'll …

Flash grenades were the single most annoying aspect of the Counter-Strike games (particularly CS:Source) and were one of the main reasons why I eventually stopped playing that god-forsaken game.

I would absolutely love this! I have a copy of Rapture3D, which is the best OpenAL implementation I know of and supports HRTFs for headphones. Getting… -

Are you suggesting that Spark is not a DirectX-based engine? Because I'm quite certain that it is. DirectX 9 feature-set, I believe. -

Are these reflections pre-computed cube environment maps like in the Source Engine? Do map authors place entities around the map to define points from which reflections are rendered? If the reflections are pre-rendered textures, ar… -
When I was a teenager, I used to love games like Soldier of Fortune because of all the excessive blood and gore. As a 27-year-old, however, gore in video games is no longer of any particular interest to me. On occasion, I still enjoy a monstrously g…

@Rippsy FYI, Ghosthree3's posts don't constitute trolling, so flagging his posts as such is not really correct usage of that feature. He is just expressing is point of view…

(Quote) It's not counter-intuitive because so many other games have this feature that it's just about par for the course for science fiction shooter games. NS2 has numerous other implausible elements so it's not like a bit of air control is out o…

(Quote) It's not your eye movements that control the crosshair. It's your head movements. I don't think that the human neck muscles are more accurate that those of the human hand and fingers so it's unlikely to provide an advantage in that respec…

The last few games in which I've encountered a Fade, I just bought a shotgun and shot it once. Then my team-mates finish it off with a few bullets from their rifles before I even have time to shoot it a second time.

It's absolutely fine as it is.
Playing Skulk is probably the area of the game where I'm strongest at the moment (relative to other players). Yet, I still feel that there's a fair amount of room to become even better. This is a good thing… -
Some people have said that Alien Vision has no down sides but I don't find this to be true. The main down side is that you can't see the lighting situation in your environment when Alien Vision is enabled.

MrChoke, you sound like you're extremely enraged by this "lack of balance". I think it's time to take a chill pill, broseph. The game is still exceptionally entertaining despite these imperfections. Have patience, for NS2 will become even more aweso…

(Quote) That is precisely what I am steadfastly opposed to. Different pub servers running subtly different rule sets - extremely annoying. A consistent experience from one play session to the next is important. You're idealised concept of players…

"Very detrimental" is a very big exaggeration. The only place in NS2 where lag compensation can occasionally be perceived is with roosting Lerks getting destroyed before they have a chance to fly away. Other than that, it's imperce… -
I'm not going to debate your theories about players' intuitions/instincts or your various suggestions about what differences you'd apply to each rule set. I only want to express my exceptionally strong disagreement with the suggestion of multiple ru…

The phenomenon that you are describing is caused by "lag compensation". Lag compensation is also the cause of the occasional situation where you move behind cover just in time to avoid being killed but you still end up dying a few …
