Then its decided.
An unnoticeable change is not worth possibly alienating more "independent" minded players. Good thread guys.

You're going to need to explain this one to me.
As for the last part, I disagree. Give Nexzil level 3 everything and 8 players, with 50 spending res and 1 minute before the onslaught, and I guarantee Archea attacking wo… -

It does when the only thing you need do to be clever/good is be on the other team.
I've seen the same players who are apparently bumbling and incompetent because they can't take out turtling marines, be just as impossib… -
I miss the nuke

Hey guys, its only a problem because the vast majority of players can't deal with it.
Hey nice job Einstein, that's called an imbalance. -
Known issue. The posters above are just trying to sound cool. Everybody has acknowledged that there is a marine turtling problem.

Reduction again.
You don't kill yourself to accomplish something that the dude standing 2 feet away from you with a welder can do. You kill yourself when there is no dude with a welder.

You're reducing it to a point of stupidity.
Its like criticising the tactic of not shooting the hive while you put up a ninja phase gate with "but if you never shoot the hive, you can't kill it".
You don't k… -
NS1 was far too niche. As you said, games were dictated largely by strategy and placement of structures. You could be as good as you like, but without the proper backup and strategical placements, you weren't going to do anything.

If it literally changes nothing, and you proceed to simply walk into battle substantially weaker than you would otherwise be, then I see this entire thread as nothing more than a balance issue.
If marines are currently … -
Nobody is going to kill themselves if they get welded. Obviously.
The issue is that you probably (maybe/occasionally) won't get welded.
So, I pose the question. If you have no armour, and nobody will weld you, what do you… -
The balance perspective is fine, but its an age old rule that you never introduce challenge through a hard to use interface. That is essentially what the gorge tunnel is currently doing.

The current implementation suffers from serious gameplay issues.
Firstly, what's to stop two gorges from dropping two tunnel entrances, each in one hive at the same time? That is a lot of wasted res for a structure that… -

Looks fine to me.

This reminds me of the mass scale demands for NS2 to be ported to Linux. Players basically requesting a feature which not even massive triple A franchises can or even try to deliver. As far as cheats go, this game is probably more secure than most.<…

What is lerk sharking? If its what I think it is then I'm pretty sure there's no water and should therefore be called ground lerking.

Aaah yes, the "here, take my resources" tactic. A classic.

And they never actually deploy the ARCs.

It only takes a few seconds before the cost of the support exceeds the cost of the lifeform.

I see this more as a "quirky things to try when you are winning really convincingly" list.

Server is probably taking a dive.

I've had the issue where, as marine commander, upon logging out for the first time since a round started I will be looking straight up. This can actually be quite an issue since I will usually need to log out to defend the base.
-
I would say 0% of good games are decided in the first 5 minutes.

I think the biggest annoyance is that ARC rushes are stopped entirely by gorges. Gorges don't make it easier, they make it possible. I can't really remember back to NS1, but I'm pretty sure that bile bomb wasn't the cure all to anything with …

I think people are getting confused if they think its enough to know that there are ARCs coming to your hive, or that the enemy has the ability to build ARCs.
You can't display your knowledge of the marine team's intentions and expect them to … -

That would make the gameplay even worse by mirroring the problem aliens have with ARCs now. One slight mistake and a gorge throwing 5 bile bombs into your ARCs would destroy all of them. On the other hand, one slight oversight and …
