Oregan Trail

yay nostalgia
For some odd reason, I decided to play Oregan Trail again. Now, the first time I played it ended up in a disaster, as the people on IRC can tell you, so I decided to give it another try.

Here are the results:

Started out as a Carpenter from Ohio
Party:
Monse (leader)
Fam
Coil
DOOManiac
Comprox

Now, lets see if you guys can make it to Oregan.. this is in order and only shows the parts where peoples names come up.

Comprox is lost, lose 1 day.
DOOManiac has dysentary.
DOOManiac has a snakebite
Comprox has a broken arm
Comprox has a broken leg
Comprox has exhaustion
Fam has Cholera
DOOMainac has typhoid

now here ceoms the fun part, it is the Snake River Crossing, 1000ft across and 6ft deep and since i had no money to pay the Indian Guide (Monse spent it all on food) I decided to caulk the wagon and float it across....
Unsucessful, DOOManiac and Coil have drowned

Fam has dysentary

Successfully made it, with no money and 3 people in fair health....

In other news, I just finished Shivers. Found the CD in a bag on a shelf I haven't looked in for some time. That game had some great music.

Anyone ever play Iron Helix? That's another classic (in my opinion).

Shivers - where you solve Professor Windelnot's puzzles? Damn, it's been years since I played that game. Had to resort to the internet for the solution to some problems. Never beat it, though. (Do you know where I could get a copy? I'd like to take another crack at it!)

Iron Helix - where you guide a probe around a ship that's about to unleash hell on a peaceful world? Damn, it's been years since I played that game as well. I couldn't beat it. I had the captain's DNA, the Commander's DNA, and another high ranking guy's DNA, and I still couldn't get certain doors open. (Do you know where I could get a copy? I'd like to take another crack at it!)

I never made it to oregan my teacher would always kick me off the green and black screened computer and make me do my math homework. Dragon_Mech, I would suppose you could find some copies on eBay, but I'm not certain. I can't sell or give my copies of the games (since they're not mine, heh), and even if I could, they're too cool to sell.

How does one get a broken arm or leg on the oregon trail? I mean you're being carried in a covered wagon by oxen. What the heck do they do?! Jump off?!

Disease, I can understand... broken limbs? Maybe one of those pixelated mountain lions got the hunter.

So Burr, were you playing the Apple II version or the PC-CDROM version? Personally I always liked the Apple II version better. Back in elementry school we used to have hunting contests to see who could kill the most meat. I think my personal record was just shy of 10,000 pounds.

I just played and got a blizzard in the desert, and someone drowned in 3 feet deep water.
