  Depends what you want to do. Run a server and play from the same machine or run a stand alone dedicated server, one where you would have to play from another machine. Then your OS, win or linux? Ill assume win and start from there.
  
  If all you want is a server that you and a few of your friends can play on and you have a good machine, just run CLIENT NS and use the CREATE SERVER option. Give your buddies your IP and have them join.
  
  If you want a DEDICATED Server and you already have downloaded the SERVER NS, use this site, <a href='http://server.counter-strike.net/server.php?cmd=howto&show=screen' target='_blank'>http://server.counter-strike.net/server.ph...wto&show=screen</a>, replacing cs with ns.

  i am using windows XP. I'm wanting to run an Natural Selection server through steam. I have all the files they say i need. I have a seperate comp for the dedicated server. I click on ded server in the steam games and it doesn't list NS? i don't understand what you just replied. sorry.
