So when they see you spending most of your free time doing things you want to do it mostly just makes them mad. You've got to learn to tune it out, the biggest mistake you can make is admitting you're doing something wrong, cause then they will bring it up, over and over, and over, and you get the idea.

Step one try to ignore her, step two if she persists play more games just to irk her, if she continues to persist tell her she is overbearing and you want to start dating her best friend.

hehe, luckily my g/f is just of an avid gamer as I am, we do what we enjoy and we respect each other for it and we also make time to be with each other. However it is kind of lucky that we share almost all the same likes and dislikes though. My advice is to the first post in this thread is, you may love her but if you feel like you are in prison is it really love? She almost sounds kind of insecure about herself and about how you feel, that may be a problem on either one of you, but either way I'm sensing "control freak". Was alot like my first g/f before I met my, now fiance, about 1 year ago. I just always believed that a good relationship will let both of you respect each other for what you want to do, not inhibit each other in what you want to do, and even so far as to support 110% in what each of you want to do at all times. Not try to change you.

As far as a "unhealthy gaming addiction"... Although I somewhat agree I ask you all this question. What and who decides it is unhealthy? Doctors? Shrinks? What makes them right? What or who gave them authority to transform their opinions of another person into fact to compare to everyone else as a general guide of healthy or unhealthy? Its kind of what is right or wrong or generally accepted in the states as well as other countries. The only thing if you think about it, if you TRUELY think about it down to its core, is the masses. The majority rules and if you fall into the minority of that group for a certain aspect, it is either wrong, unhealthy, or just stupid. But ask yourself this too? What would happen if you were among the majority, say 85% of America thought that 10-14 hours of gaming each day was healthy (provided things were different)... would it be so bad then? would it be accepted? Point is we base what is acceptable and what is not acceptable based on other peoples "beliefs" and it shouldnt be that way. You should base whats right and whats wrong based on your beliefs, with some moderation of course and still obeying all the laws. (sorry axe weilding homicidal maniacs)

Heres just a lil bit of mind candy to help you see my previous point. When and where and who decided that cussing was wrong? or which cuss words were wrong? Could it be possible that it just spread that some parents a long time ago assumed it was bad, started teaching it to their children, and they grew up thinking it was bad and taught it to their children repeating the cycle? A side note too to help you, in America it is a bad thing if you give someone the middle finger, but if you give the thumbs up it is a good thing. In the middle east, if you give a thumbs up, your probably going to get your butt kicked. Why? Because we were raised differently when all it comes down to is a different hand gesture. Kind of silly huh? Think about it.

Well, I look like the illigitimate child of Bill Gates the Pilsbury Doh Boy, so suffice to say, I'm going it alone.

If you didnt read or understand my post that I made, I'll give you a summarized version. She either gets with the program and accepts you for who you are and what you do or she hits the road. *shrugs* I wouldnt tolerate that from anyone, let alone someone who is supposed to be there for me and care that I care about things. Your choice if you wanna continue on, but from your last post that you just said, she's a control freak, a b****, and needs to be kicked to the curb, she's going to be doing this your entire life unless you a) take a stand, or b) have her take a hike.

Humm, what it sounds like to me is that even IF you wanted to, you couldn't exactly leave this girl. So.. scratch that.
I'm guessing she, like most girls, believe games are childish. Pff, go figure.
Well, in my logic.. if she really loves you back, she'd compromise with you and your hobby. Because that's all it really is. And as long as if you have a stable balance between your hobby and real life obligations (like your child) then damn, I don't see why she should complain.

I just don't believe that if there's something you like doing in your spare time, you go on and have to hide(!?) it from your signifigant other. :/ (e.g. gaming.) Man, that just doesn't appear to be right.

Vizual, it sounds like your problem might stretch beyond gaming and into both of your personalities. Everything sounds like she comes from at least a semi-abusive family, and her methods of approaching you about gaming are just deliberately bitchy, so she's doing it on purpose, and it sounds like things are pretty bad between the two of you. I imagine that you might not be handling things the best way yourself either, by ignoring and hiding in games. Despite what people on the forums may think, games can ruin a relationship. However, more often they're excuses to ruin relationships. I play NS about 15 hours a week, in addition to Warcraft and various console games. My girlfriend doesn't mind me playing NS (80% of the time I do she isn't there) as long as I don't ignore her, and she plays the other games with me (when I got Crystal Chronicles, a 4 player RPG, I made sure that she was one of the players). From what I hear you might not be able to get her into games, as she probably has an aversion built up to them from the tension in your relationship. But it's worth a shot and might show her that you're not just playing games for the sake of ignoring her (which she might be thinking, girls!).

You might want to look into professional help for the two of you. Having a baby changes everything.

I really don't see the connection with women and games. Unless the girl loves to play the games you do, I don't see it being as it is.

heh some girls want more attention then others. myself i enjoy my peace time and i love to game on ns,, fury is the same more or less so it all works out .. sometimes its good to have a bit of quality time away from the pcs,, of course .

girls who want their bf to completely stop doing what they enjoy (gaming on pc) ,, need to learn about respect. seriously if they want you to stop doing sumfin you really enjoy , then make them stop sumfin they really enjoy to show them what it feels like to not have anything to do which you love doing..

seriously if any guy told me to stop playing pc completely id ignore them cus its my life and my choice,, they dun like it, then bugger them and they can go roll down a hill in a trolley and i hope it tips

At the beginning when i was on the phone with her she always asked me "what are you doing?" and i always answered "On the PC". I think now she just KNOWS for a fact that I am at the all the day.
