<div class="IPBDescription">need some advice</div> Ok, its officially 5:50 in the morn (when I started typing this) and I am hyped up on caffine and sugar, I have a final in about 5.5 hours and there is just SOOO much information to learn, I was wondering if any of the NS Off-Topic forum people had any advice for....

1: Studying, especially ALOT of information
B: Stress relief for those frequent study breaks
3: How to avoid procrastination

Im open to any advice, and also a little "off-topic chaos and randomness" helps make me laugh and relieves stress.

    You could start by using a correct list, using either letters or numbers, but not both XD

    As for:
    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->B: Stress relief for those frequent study breaks<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    I recommend:
    -Chilling out to some good music
    -Just chilling out
    -Going for a nice walk
    -All 3 of the above at once <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Or you could go out and "check"on the local herbivore populations... but I doubt you'd like that,specially if you are a vegetarian....hehehe <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> *

    This really does work. Just sitting around inside all day won't help you. Go outside for a while, get some fresh air and excercise. You'll feel a lot better, and you'll have a lot more energy to commit to studying. Also, don't forget to eat and sleep well.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->1: Studying, especially ALOT of information<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Oh, that's easy, just start studying well in advance and -- oh, yeah, nevermind.

    I know i know!

    Get totally hammered, pass out and wake up in a strange bed with a space monster next to you. Sounds like a plan to me.

    More accurate studying plan:
    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->1: Studying, especially ALOT of information<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Get drunk.
    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->B: Stress relief for those frequent study breaks<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Drink some alcohol. Hell with some, just get wasted.
    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->3: How to avoid procrastination<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    I think you know what to do. It starts with a D and rhymes with BRINK.

    If you're still standing when the exams start, get over to your school and call your teachers a**holes and urinate in the hallway.

    That's not a bad idea actually, I might ask someone to do that after X-mas when my exams get REALLY close....

    I have procrastination syndrome.

    (But at least I dont have to feel guilty right now because I just finished revising for maths which some of you may know I love <i>so</i> much [/sarcasm])

    Grab eight or nine hours sleep the night before the exam, get up in plenty of time, make sure to have a full breakfast, and don't do any last minute revision on that morning - it'll just make you panic. And if you fail, make sure you get a doctor to send in a letter saying you had trouble with rabies or whatever.

    Mindmap for studying!

    Picture of whatever your studying in a middle

    Then a branch going off in one colour, then branches coming off it with pictures and a few words next to it.

    Have one big branch for one aspect of a thing

    Each main branch one colour

    If you really want to memorize lots of information in a short period of time: treat your subject as if it's something you're really interested in. Look at the interesting facts or cool points. Information is associated much better when you have a strong emotion to tie with it.

    Love, Interest, Importance make the easiest to remember, Hate works too, but you generally don't want to study it then. Works best if you use the association your mind knows best. Mine does written association well, once I write something down, I don't need my notebook anymore, writing it in the paper is like writing it on my brain.

    Acronyms:
    Lots of people use those weird acronyms to memorize things to...but those don't fit every subject well:
    EX:
    MVEMJSUNP
    My very elderly mom just served up nine pizza-pies
    Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto
    (funny thing is I knew the order of the planets and I needed them to make the acronym... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> ) Of course, it's also not correct for those few years when Pluto is within Neptunes orbit...but that's rare, and we wont have that for a long time.

    Associations:
    There's also word association, works very well with foreign languages, you can see slight differences between words or languages and you'll never forget the words.
    Ya (I) in Russian = Ja (Yes) in German (J is pronounced like Y in german) They both sound the same, but have no other correlation, but I'll still remember both of them.

    Reverse associations work too.
    Wer and Wo look like Where and Who, but they're the opposite. Wer means who in german, and wo means where.

    Works with pictures, sounds and various other mediums too.

    Good ol' Memorization:
    This works but is generally so unintersting you'll forget the subject within a week (usually shorter). This is a night or two day before option, usually you'll forget most of this (I think a report said 10% of the information may be permanently retained).

    Again, with me, it works best when I love what I'm studying and when I write it down. Taking an authentic interest in what you're studying would help you the most.

    OMG, that last picture killed me!!

    One final down, two left...total hours of sleep this week so far...3!

    Of course, I have the EASY final out of the way.....my hardest one (or the one IM worried about the most) is my last one on thursday....I hate statistics (lousy pseudo-math).

    Wednesday, its History of Art!

    Today was geography....at least it was only worth 25% of my grade (the rest was Hands ON labs, yay!)...

    Here is a sample question:

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->10. GIS and Remote Sensing have been used in landslide prediction studies in Washington State. The study done by Dr. Merry et al. used AVHRR data rather than data from Landsat or SPOT. The best explanation for the use of AVHRR rather than Landsat or SPOT is:

    A. Landsat and SPOT coverages are not available for the western United States.
    B. The repeat cycle for Landsat and SPOT was not frequent enough for the study.
    C. The resolution for the Landsat and SPOT coverages was too coarse.
    D. The Landsat satellites were not yet launched when the study was done. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    THe answer is B by the way....

    I'd find it hard to believe you'd go to a college without exams...

    Unless you didn't go to college, but you seem more educated than that (not that our colleges aren't as described in Futurama anyway).

    I got a degree in Abnormal Psychology. The only exams that approached vague difficulty were in the few Stats classes I had to take. The rest was basically underwater basketweaving.
