<div class="IPBDescription">New features!</div>Version 3 of <a href="http://www24.brinkster.com/mattrye/NSWorld/Main.ASP" target="_blank">NS World</a> has burst fourth from it's cocoon and is looking for more tasty NS maps.

Abu's NS map reviews have now been intergrated into NS World.

If you would like to see your map previewed on NS World just give us an e-mail (address on the site).  You will find us firm but fair.

The article previously knowns as 'A Berzerkers Guide to Mapping for Natural Selection' is now living on NS World calling itself the 'Quickstart Mapping Guide'.

NS World would like to take this oppertunity to thank the ready room for it's link and return the favor.

All this is topped of with our 'mission statement' / 'Wish list'.

If you're wondering about the counter, it's been running since the last evolution in silent mode.

I got to the site but it seems a bit slower.  Could be on my side though.  Also, the screenshot links don't work.
    Guess it's STILL evolving  <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

Brinkster(NS World host) have 'upgraded' to ASP 3.  Which doesn't seem to be as quick or as stable <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->

    Pictures sorted now, my appologies.

We have discussed this with MonsE, it came down to incompatabilities with page scripting and database formats.

does this mean ns is close to its release?  <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

NS World is evolving as I complete each of the features we have planned.  The quickstart guide is almost certainly going to be redundant or at least very out of date when NSTR2 finally arrives.  I just hope we can provide a usefull resoure for NS mappers by the time NS launches for real.

We have no special insights as to when NS will be ready, that you can't get by reading these forums.

Chrome, your guide will still be entirely relevant with the NSTR2.  I'm sure you'll want to update it, but it will make the transition without too much work.

OK, who's spreading rumors that NS is very close to release?  Just because the NSTR2 is about ready means that NS is ready?  Ha!

Can I just make one comment about the aesthetics of NS world?  I'm not too fond of the thinly striped green and black background, mostly because stripes look pretty bad when you scroll them.  Other than that, the site is really good.  <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Stripes look great when you scroll... kind of like after a really good hit of.... what were we talking bout again?

I'll take that into consideration for later versions thanks Rhoads.

needless to say NS is a very good mod (in progress) but can it beat the top contendors ? CS is swinging in / out of the public eye with Version 1.4, will it suceed? many people have already given up after hearing about possible stamina issues and then after that the definate jump/stop for 2 sec rule. So thats a gravestone for CS methinks. DOD is booming in with version 2.0 with its new fps killing client.dll (cl_dll), and TFC is losing more and more interest every day it seems (i gave up at least a year ago).
Lets face it ... Die hard HL fans arent just going to give up (i know i wont, and theres ALOT like me), so the real question here is ..... is NS ..... The ONE ?!

Yes.  NS is the one.  Sure, DoD, CS, and other mods have made developments, but NS is really ripping out the foundations.  Resource gathering is innovative, not to mention the first example of it in an fps (methinks), as well as developing new items.  S&I has focused on development, too, and it's a shame they don't have more popularity.  To top it off, there's the top-down commander view, which looks to be pretty damn cool.

To sum it up:  Yeah, I think NS will be groundbreaking.

I have a feeling once NS comes out, all my mod time will be spent there, and Im a die hard cs fan....  CS will still be fun even with stamina stuff, but NS has got the gold.

Let me just stop this little rumor right here... there isn't any resource gathering in NS. It was considered for a tiny amount of time, but it was quickly found that telling someone to go harvest some crystals (or whatever) come back, drop 'em off, and repeat ad nauseum was boring. So they just built buildings that collect resources automatically. (Not sure how yet, but we'll find out soon enough.)
