I Had A Bad Car Accident On Sat.

Have you ever almost died?
I was invovled in a really bad car crash on Saturday and I almost died!
My car was in the right lane of a 3 lane high way, I was driving at 100KM/h or 60 M/h (for you Yanks). There was some slush in the right lane and when I hit it, my car was pulled into more slush which caused me to lose control and fishtale across from the right lane to the left outer lane. I was almost hit by a Tractor/Trailer as I spun across the middle lane. I hit a truck and than was pushed back into the middle lane and hit the Trailer rear as I spun.

I went into really bad shock but I was perfectly OK, not even a bump.
Then after the cops showed up, al kinds of ppl started to crash behind me. They weren't paying attention and crashed.
I have never been in a car crash before and I have never faced death before. My life flashed before my eyes and it all happened in Slow Motion.

Besides the Shock, I was fine! I have never almost been Killed, It sucks!
Thank God I am alright.

Has anyone else ever almost died, for any reason, Car Crash, Sports related, sickness?

Well, last winter my friend who lives way up north here in Wisconsin decided to have us visit. He lives way out in the country and we had to run to town then an errand for a neighbor. We were going down this steep hill when we hit some blackice, we went head on into a gully, flipped the truck, and rolled twice. I was out cold for a few minutes. When I came to my friends were just awakening also. Its weird, the way the truck crumpled we shouldn't have survived....

Count your blessings, mate! I once died in a carcrash and...ummm. OK, no I didn't.

You've come through that physically unscathed, but you might not feel all right for quite a while! All my best.

Incidentally, when you saw your life flash before your eyes what did you see? Your triumphs? Random events? Games of Natural Selection?

It was strange, It was like I was thinking about all my friends and family as the crash was happening.

But Yes, when I looked up at the Tractor heading right at me, it was like a ONOS charging!

I am glad I can Smile about this! I said a long prayer to God, thanking him for giving me a second chance.

And yes, my car is toast, worse yet, I had no collision so I am out 8 grand.
But I figure that the money I saved by not having any collision, would have equaled what the Insurrance company would have given me for the wreck, so its no differance.

I don't even care about the money, I am just glad I am ALIVE!

I got this "almost dead" feeling when my sister threw me down the stairs, schreaming at me to die. In the first second of the fall life went past me (wasn't a long life ^^). Then, when I could get my hand on something and stop myself from falling I was feeling like being reborn

Nope, never been in a car crash myself. Lost a friend in a car crash though. I heard about it later:
He was suffering from diabetes, and the theory goes that he went into a shock while driving. The car went off the road and wrapped itself around a tree. Supposedly, he died instantly, which is a pretty good deal since this saved him from burning to death instead.

And of course, I've seen a few people coming in from car crashes while working at the hospital. Including one who spent eight (8!) hours in the operating theatre, using almost fifty (50!) liters of blood (fyi, that's 8-10 times the amount of blood a normal adult holds. Talk about major bleeding) before dying in intensive care twelve hours later. Cool eh? :/

I'm glad your ok Majin, the NS.org family wouldn't be the same w/o you.

I almost died once. It was during the really bad ice storm of '98 that hit New England/Quebec. I was standing outside trying to chip the ice in the driveway when I heard a *crack* and a massive tree branch, easily 150-200 pounds with the ice coating it fell down to the ground, from about 60-70 feet above, and landed about a foot to two feet away from me.

I've never really come close to dying. I fell asleep at the wheel one time for about 20 seconds, but I was on a straight and empty road, so i woke up without anything happening.

My little brother was in a boating accident last summer after which he was in the operating room for around 9 hours. That was pretty scary.

One of my friends out at prom night was at a red light when some FUXING IDIOT (insert censored crap here) ran a red light (intoxicated), hit the side of the car going ~90mph, entire car was split in half, throwing my friend out of the back seat even with her seatbelt on to her death. Not fun. The guy had been convicted before for DWA. Just recently he was ordered an appearance in court but never showed, they think he left the country since he was a bosnian immigrant. (emmigrant? i dunno im stoopid). Why the hell we let people like that off easy is beyond me.

I'm notorious for falling asleep at the wheel... I'm practically narcoleptic because I'm such a slave to my sleeping habits. I was 3 hours late to work this morning because I couldn't get up... the fact that I don't drink coffee doesn't hekp...
  • MajinMajin Join Date: 2003-05-29 Member: 16829Members, Constellation
    Yep, I'm very lucky.
And Yes, everyone was ok, My GF and I walked away from my car without a scratch and all the ppl involved in the 6-10 other accidents that happened after mine were all okay also, due to the HWY being shut down (some happened 20 meters behind my crash).

1 cool thing though. I huge Midivac Helicopter landed 20 feet away from my car infront of us. Thats was really cool to see!

Aparently I was in a car crash when I was two, my grandad was driving and he fell asleep at the wheel. My mum (in the passenger seat) noticed in time to wake him up but not in time to avoid the crash. I also slept through the whole thing apparently

No but it wasn't a pretty picture (my car).
It was kinda strange to see though.
The front bumper was almost perfectly fine, but the hood was crushed up about 2 feet and the engine and stuff was also messed up.
It was caused by the fact that when I hit the trailer, I hit the Car guard at the back, you know that upside down T thing: _|_|_
Thats what hit my car, so it missed the bumper.
My car was about 3 inches smaller than it should have been, because the bumper was still in the right place but the rest of the front of the car was knocked back.

Yep, Very Lucky to be alive!

i had summin like this b4 where you have flashbacks, ok, we had these wrestling freaks in our class, one picked me up joknig around and he sed 3-D as a joke, then the other knob took it seriously and actually did that move on me, so as i was on the other guys shoulders, the other one pulled my head down towards the ground, i had a flashback of most important things in my life, then my head smashed onto his knee, then a table, then the floor, i was out cold for like 5 mins, i woke up in the MI room, but somehow my neck wasnt broken i was lucky there.

My turn, I never get tired of this story....

Winter 2000, school got closed because of snow. Me and my buddies decided to have some fun in the snow, so we tied a rope to an innertube and then tied it to a Fourwheeler, thereby dragging each other around really fast in the snow. Well, my turn came up and I manage to hit the ONLY thing in an entire fallow field, a large mound of frozen dirt. Well, after clinging on to the rope for a few seconds, I finally let go, got up on my knees in the snow, and then passed out face first in the snow. It was like being in a dream, I awoke to my friend basically slapping me in the face telling me to wake up.

I was in so much pain, it hurt to breathe. My friend finally took me home and I told my mom right away I needed to go to the hospital. I went there and sat in a room in the ER for about 6 HOURS! before a doctor came and saw that I was bad enough to go to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). After a small dose of morphine (mmmm....morphine) I was sent to the ICU where I was tested and tested and tested some more. They couldn't figure out what was wrong, and all they knew was that my Blood-Oxygen level was nearing fatal stages, but I didn't know this until later, but I could still see the fear of death in my mothers eyes and hear it in the doctors voice. Finally, some NURSE (not a doctor) suggested something to the doctor which basically saved my life.

In the end, I had a fractured spleen which led to MASSIVE internal bleeding. The blood collected around my lungs and collapsed them, which accounted for the fact of my low blood-O2 count and the fact that everytime I took a breath it felt like a vehicle was parked on my chest. Also, my kidney was permenetly destroyed too, so I only have one kidney. They had to cut me open in the bed i was laying in to put a chest tube in to drain the blood, even if I was sedated and the area was numbed a little I could feel the tube moving around in me and it was painful. I spent 5 days in the ICU and 6 days in a normal hospital bed. I was laid up for so long I couldn't walk at first, my legs were weak, and I lost 20 lbs because I ate nothing but Ice chips for 4 days straight AND I didn't sleep for those 4 days either, making me hallucinate (lack of sleep and extreme painkillers)

Did I find God you ask? No, I didn't, not among all the pain, I begged him, I begged anybody to stop the pain. Nobody did. It did change me some, Im not afraid of death as much as I used to be, and now I realize how short life is and that death is everywhere, so there is not point of fearing it. Unfortunately, my mind isn't what it used to be, I am slightly unbalanced now, and I drink alot to....

    there, thats my sad story.
