"res ****, Res ****!"

<div class="IPBDescription">Why do marines whine so much?</div> It seems like whenever I'm an alien and go onos I'm accused by the marines of being a "res ****".

What is that supposed to mean? Does it mean I'm not a gorge? The whole damn team doens't have to be a fuckign gorge for the entire game. (although lots of gorges are quite useful)

I don't like this whining. An early onos is a method of winning, and if the whiners think it's unfair, blame it on the game's balance system, not on the player. This whole "res ****" thing is nonsense.

And why is this forum so tightly sensored? The majority of the community is mature enough not to need this, and to know what's behind the asterixes. Besides, if you look at the post, the naughty words are still there, while the accepted term I used is censored.

I think your post illustrates why we need language filters.

And in regards to your question: People saving for higher life forms from the start can be good or bad. It can be bad when your team is sitting at the 2 minute mark with DCs, a bunch of OCs, a few lerks, and 1 RT. It can be good when you go regen fade and kill all their electrified res towers.

The moral of the story: Listen to your team.

Well basically, the marines on your server are dumb ****. Or the comm sucks and upgrades the armory after 15 min in the game.

As far as the swear filter goes, it is meant to create a certain tone in the forums. One of the "naughty" words is still there, while another one is misspelled, possibly preventing the filter from catching it. If you have a problem with it, PM a moderator and complain to them.

As far as saving for onos goes, the marine response should be based on how well you do. If you run in, get off two gores and then redeem, or if you kill 3 marines and then die, then expect this response. If you go around, taking out locked-down areas, electrified rt's, and killing marines, then they won't have any reason to insult you. They might do it at first, but if you are a regular on a server, then they will know that you are a good onos and they won't say anything insulting.

Of course, the response from the alien team will probably be different. If you are going to save for fade/onos, let your team know. It is important to have higher life forms, but having everyone save for onos is bad. If you tell them you are going to save for onos and they don't collectively ask you to use your res differently, then they don't have any reason to complain.

If you are res hoarding (probably where the current term came from) and you have less than 3 rts, I will probably yell at you. the key to winning is in RTs, not in one big bug.

Yeah, I definitely agree. I definitely like to secure as many nozzles as possible, and keep them secured. It's just that sometimes if the whole team's a gorge and we have 4+ nozzles and two hives, I'll save for onos, but I still get "res whoring" from the enemy sometimes. Oh well.

Not everyone who goes 1 hive <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> is a reshore, it just the ones that suck up 100 res go <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> , die, then leave that I consider hores... Nothing pisses me off more than when I go <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> and put up rts, hive, and chamber and no one else will help me because they all want <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> . Also add the fact that all they will do is be like "more chambers, i need more chambers" or "when the 3rd hive going up" my response is always "I've only got so many res and you guys are soaking up most of the incoming res, so if you want more chambers build them yourselfs. Or be quite and wait."

I think if it's the marines that are doing the crying and not your team, I would ignore them and keep owning them! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I usually never upgrade the armoury. Shotguns and motiontracking kill everything...

I gotta jump on the bandwagon of those griping about early oni. If you decide by yourself to horde the res to 100 so you can independently go onos and do whatever, you are definately depriving the team of quite a bit of resources. Now, oni are all fine and dandy, if they play nice with the team. Especially in the case of a clan game, oni are basically unheard of. Games usually end around the 5-10 minute mark depending on skill. It's pretty much over with 2 fades. Now, if your pubber team "approves" of you going onos to stretch things out a bit, go for it.. But don't be a punk that runs into base, swallows one marine, instantly runnign away, to regen and kill the swallowed marine.. An oni running to marine base should be intent on damaging structures as much as possible, barring a total defense of rines, in which case, the whole alien team probably needs to assault the rine base.

I save my res for, fast 2nd hive or early ono. I can get away with this MOST of the time because i'm better then 80% of the people i play with, the other 20% pwns me at every turn. I got a ono at the 2min mark once, it was a large game and i got by the marine IP and the rest of the team killed a marine here and there so i just killed the spawning marine. do this about 25 times and you got your self a ono. A early ono can end the game right then and there if used wisely, people are eather too brave or scared as ono. I'v seen people run from two lvl0 LMGers or some run right at 8 shotgunners, you gota know what fights you can win. An other thing people tend to do is run fight for a farmed marine base, instead of "maybe" killing there base take out all there RTs on the way, so even if you die you'v more then made your 100 res investment back.
