what do you play ?!?!
ok it's a spin off from this thread

Well I?m just interested in some feedback on any Pen & paper RPG

please no computer RPG Pen & paper only

Just some question to think about you don?t have to answer all of them
Well I what RPG do you play?
Are you a player, game master or both?
Got a fav character tell us a good moment?

Ok I start first

I play Shadow run (it's the only one I played
I been game master for quiet a while as of lately then role playing
My fav character is Thorin Oakshield (guess the reference ) who is a dwarf rigger who doesn?t like getting into firefights unless he knows he can win i.e. one of his drones with a large auto cannon that he loves firing away.
Which got him once in trouble by mowing down some gang in the bad lands (a really run down suburb that has gone way out of control and lone star won?t even enter it) but the old building my van was parked under to hide from view started to fall down due to the heavy fire power used.
Lucky my character has a decent driving skill to get out but with some a seriously large denting the car and not sounding in good shape but just as well he also had the skills to repair it an carried his repair tools inside the van.

    i've played:
    SR
    DnD
Warhammer fantasy roleplaying(not the thingy with lots of miniatures...)
    Vampire

    althought mostly Warhammer and SR.
i've Gm'd a couple of times in SR - although that was some really poor Hack and slash gaming.

this christmas im going to play some SR with my brother and his friends, with my brother as the GM. The character im going to make is a Orc 'viking' - he has combat based skills of course, and im going to make it so he can berserk, Adren pump and a Merit. and im giving him Cyberhorns and a normal helmet to 'hide' it.

and i have SR and Vamprie books. SR is my favourite system - well gaming world, the rules can be a "tad" too complicated at times.

Dungeons and Dragons (3e) and d20 modern.

Ive also played gurps a little but that session quickly ended (lighting hit the neighbour). I personally think that the d20 systems are good. But they are not that great if you are looking for pure realism.

My fave character is one called Temrek Longarrow, no story to share really since it was a long time ago I played him and dont remember any details.

A story to share with another character I have though. Also D&D. It was sush that becouse he did not know elven he was not let in in a village (or small town). He got angry becouse someone inside owed him oney that he needed, now he had a really high bluff skill and managed to trick the whole garrison that an invisible drow (dark elf) army was standing outside the walls! Many arrows where shot at the ground that day...

I think somebody's trying to tell you something.

Now, let's see what I've played over the years. The problem is that I've only briefly tried some of these, and since we didn't really like them, we just quit after a few sessions. I can still remember the basic rules for most of them, though. Makes me wish to try something different for a change. Over the Edge was a breath of fresh air, and I'll probably try Call of Cthulhu soon.

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, second edition
Dungeons & Dragons, third edition (currently playing)
Star Wars role-playing game, d20 system (currently playing)
    Middle-Earth Role-playing game
    Rolemaster
    Cyberpunk 2020 (currently playing)
    Shadowrun, first edition
    Vampire: The Masquerade
    Over the Edge
    Earth Dawn
    Runequest

I've played a little DSA (german system, don't ask, it's crud). D&D looks highly interesting, but I've just not had a chance to try it yet (I'm not really trying either).

I'm sure I would get into a pen and paper game like D&D, but there aren't enough people in my area who play. Someday though...

Ehh... well, pen and paper RPG's may be playable over IRC. If you're not gonna have any battle field thing anyhow.

I used to play Final Fantasy RPG when one of the older guys in the channel had an urge to be an evil GM. It was kinda short lived since it was difficult to get us all in the channel at the same time, but it was good while it lasted. The only character from those games that was really memorable for me was Lykos Morbach, an engineer werewolf. I remember him mostly cause of a great fight my party had with a Giant Dwarf. It would be nice to pick up pen and paper RPG's again though.

I played Battletech once. Pretty fun, but you basically need a nice calculator to do it. I would definatly not suggest that somebody with trouble in math try playing it very much.

AD&D 3rd Ed (play and DM)
    Shadowrun 3 Ed (DM)
    Palledium (Play)
    Cyberpunk (Play)
    Vampire (Play, but only once)

...plus our own weird d100 system called Nowadays.

I have to admit that I've never really played any pen & paper RPGs... I just dislike the idea of battling and everything. What I do play is only text-based role-plays on the net (AIM, boards...) - and big time...

    Shadowrun 3rd Ed

D&D for a while. Too simple for me. I outgrew it.

Hey, those of you that play(ed) Shadowrun 3rd, anyone interested in RPGing over these forums?

I've always wanted to play some D&D or Vampire: The Masquerade, but nobody I know plays them, and its kinda hard to play w/ just one person. :/

Anybody interested in playing a game or two via IRC? :D ? :D ?

Maybe even set up netmeeting for voice comm?

I sure would, if we can get a few more (not that fun to play with just two) and find a time that suits us all (hope you are resonably close to GMT +1).

It doesn't work well with IRC... trust me on that. People need to go AFK or something, then you have to sit around... it might work for a quicky little game, but anything in depth won't work too well.

Oh believe me, it does. I played so many role-plays on the net (on the boards or AIM) and it's packed with atmosphere. You just have to have some imagination and puff, there you go.

I suppose it depends on how in-depth you like your RPGs, I guess, as well..

It does and I can assure you that more in-depth than with my AIM ones, I can't possibly get... But that's probably because of my weird self... Seriously, I get too involved... :/

    EDIT: Typo.
