    but thats the fun of them, they just ran into walls and acted like little radar/homeing missiles. they were perfect for defending a hive as one gorge could hold off lots of marines if the enviroment was right.

    so whats up with this focus thingy to do with SC's?

    ITS BEHIND U!

    does it make attacks powerful X2 or something like that cos have an SC nearby when attacking was always a big advantage cos u could run up infront of them and only the quikest of internets could show u up intime... but motion tracking ruined that cos they always 'saw' where u are...

    Sens chambers provide the upgrade Focus. Focus increases the damage caused by your slot 1 weapon by a percentage per chamber. It also slows the rate of fire for your slot1 weapon to compensate.
    Sens chambers also negate the effect of motion tracking within their sphere of influence.

    Babblers were taken out as part of the server optimization plan, so there would be less CPU load. Hopefully this will explain why babblers will NOT return.

    Yes. Sens currently provides Focus, Scent of Fear and Cloaking.

    I don't believe this is in the changelog, but I believe the exact numbers for focus are +1/3, +2/3, and +1 times normal damage and cooldown for the slot one weapon. So bite, spit, lerkbite(that one's back in the current build, but babblers almost certainly won't be), swipe, and gore do double damage with double cooldown at level 3. This primary helps stealth attacks if they aren't upgraded and you can kill them in the first hit. Even with upgrades, if you take knockback into account, having to get into range half as many times can be a plus, even if you have to take a little extra time between. It also helps hit and runs, like our friendly blinking fades. When all you can do is blink in, swipe once, and blink out, it's nice when that one blink can kill something. It also helps an onos (or others) not run out of energy while bashing down buildings, since each double damage attack takes up the same energy as a normal attack, but only happens half as often.
    It's a very handy situational upgrade, just like cloaking. Add scent of fear, and I think you have a well rounded, usefull sense chamber that can really compete with the other 2 in terms of build order. Overall, defense is still first most often, but not always. Whether sense of movement is second after defense seems to be a lot harder choice now than it was.

    Used to be the gorges 3 hive weapon. They were AI controlled skulks who used the snarks AI (I'm guessing about that). Either way you look at it they were totally brain dead, and while a cool feature, were not really all that usefull. So, they were removed to let the gorge have Bilebomb. They were in v.1-1.04, removed in 2.0 on.

    I think that would make things pretty umbalanced. OC's rock already, just need to know how and when to use them.

    The armor system has also been substantially revamped. In 2.01, armor deflects 30/40/50/60% of damage, depending on how many upgrades you have. In 2.1, armor (except HA) always deflects 70%, and upgrades just give you more of it. However, marines now start with 25 armor instead of 50, so they still die in about the same amount of damage.

    For marines this primarily means medspam is less powerful, and welders are more powerful, even for LAs. An LA with no upgrades backed by a welder takes 4 bites to kill, even with no meds.

    I'm not really sure how much this effects aliens, since their healing abilities all effect health and armor equally.

    the alien gets a rush in change of brain chemistry and is hyperactive, thus keenly and extremely aware of and in touch with his senses, and his brain can compute quickly and decisively the way to disembowel his target

    I've felt this way before.. I think you have to be rather energetic and active or drugged to know what it's like

    I have no idea what Flaya thought sensory had to do with focus but perhaps it allows aliens to detect vulnerable points?

    Personally I wouldn't mind seeing umbra and spores combined into one all purpose cloud of dewm...

    It'd make the lerk the swiss army knife of the kharaa... Being able to get in close and bite for massive damage, back off and peck away with a low dmg, low risk spike, perform area denial, and make it's buddies stronger...

    The new flight system pwns btw... It's ridiculously easy to bite marines midflight now, even JPs don't stand a chance...

    Take it's place in the upgrades menu... not it's functionality...

    Yeah, as it stands now, the 3 SC upgrades are Scent of Fear, Cloak and Focus.

    Focus is surprisingly powerful atm when combined with cloaking (NS:C obviously)... You're just walking along as a vanilla then BANG, you're dead, and your teammates are pooping themselves because they can't see WTH just killed you... I've never loved HA so much before...

    Cloak also is faster now it seems. Also, you can walk around cloaked by holding shift, pretty nifty.
    SoF allows you to see all the enemies in let's say 20 meters.
    Focus is pretty much a focused strong bite.

    Cloaking is really powerful right now, I've seen people leap, blink, and fly while cloaked. This is a bug, and not a feature tho. Hopefully it will be toned down, cloaked aliens are a real pain to kill.

    Focus at lv. 3 makes your slot1 attacks twice as strong, but half as fast. It may sound like a downgrade, but it's actually the alien equivilent of the shotgun... and tell me, is the shotgun bad? Killing marines in one hit is never bad. Focus is my favorite upgrade right now.



    And babblers WERE stupid. If you didn't give them any targets, they would kill each other or attack you. I got killed by them on several accounts.

    They were fun tho, I used to take on a heavie or two with gorges. Web + Babblers = Win.
