<div class="IPBDescription">Shadowrun</div>Lacking real life chummers, Hida Tsuzua and I would like to do some shadowrunning via IRC, and therefore are searching for two or three more interested in a little roleplaying.

Hida would be willing to GM if noone else volunteers. It'd be helpful if you knew Shadowrun already - teaching someone the rules via chat is a serious pain in the backside for both parties.

If you're interested, please simply post below.

    Ok, I'll post.

Bah, I know nothing Shadowrun though.

Well, as said before, it'd make matters tricky.

We could also play Cthulhu (traditional, I don't have d20), if more people are familiar with that.

Where can I find the rules for those games? I love reading rule books, no idea why but I do.

Sorry, I really can't come up with any URL to find them on - although I'd appreciate such a thing myself, looking up rules is much easier in HTML than on dead trees.

SBV, you hurt my head sometimes, but I won't blame you, it's just your personality I guess. GM stands for game master. In things like this the GM keeps track of all the stats and inturpretes the rules, since I'm guessing you no about as much about this game as me (i.e. nothing) then (just guessing hear) you won't be Game Master.

Doing roleplaying on IRC would be fun no matter what game,  you do know that any room on gamesnet, which is the only server i use, that has a chanserv you can do !d # and it rolls for you?  It is pretty cool. count me in I usually hang out in the NS channel so you can get me there.

Oh yeah I have never actually roleplayed before but it's cool I bought a whole bunch of DnD stuff to see what it was all about its just I don't know anyone else who plays it.

Unfortunately I don't have either shadowrun or call of cthulu.  I could attempt to get myself a copy of the shadowrun core book, so don't count me out just yet.

Great! If you would be willing to invest some time and effort,
I'd be willing to give you a quick and rough sweep through the SR rules, but you would have to do some manual internet research to get a hang on the background (there's a ton of material out there, so don't sweat it).

Of course, nothing's better than getting your fingers on the sourcebook, though.

I'm in, if there's still a spot left... and I actually know Shadowrun, run a group every week and own quite a few books, like 15...
And anybody interested in getting some basics, I'd be happy to teach as well, although I imagine that to be a very tricky and time consuming thing.
I'm usually in #nsradio, but you can just PM me, or, which would be the best thing... use ICQ.

OK, if I'm not mistaken, we're six people:

Hida Tsuzua (GM), Moebius, Gazaar, Ashitaka, 1800, and me. I'll try to contact everyone as soon as possible to arrange the rest.

Although It won't work on IRC unless you were very clever it would be cool to play inquisitor online!

For now, we should stay with SR - it's one of the most popular RPGs there are, so we've got chances people can get the infornmations they need from somewhere <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Nem... ######, your making me want to pull out my SNES and play it again, shadowrun was one awesome cyperpunkish rpg.  I'm going to download the rom so i can play it some more, and sure i will definetly play with you guys!

You're welcome, but let me warn you: Shadowrun for the SNES was an awesome game, no doubt, but the actual P&P RPG is much more complicated. That's why we're so keen on rule familiraty.

Anyway, we've got ... eight people now, oh which Hida, 1800, Ashitaka, Cyanide (?), dragonsblade and me know the rules, correct?

I guess it's best not to put more players in the campaign for sanity reasons - Hida will already be troubled enough to remember all seven (!) characters.

Organizing the whole thing, would times between 2 and 7 pm EST be OK for everyone?

Do those who don't know the rules know where to learn them? If not, contact me and I'll try.

I don't really care for the time, since I really got NOTHING to do at all, except for working once a week and helping my father with his pond occasionally.
I already started teaching the basics of Shadowrun to Ashitaka and I'd be happy to help anyone along who things they'd need a little help with the rules.
Sorry for dragging this topic back up from page two, but I think its still going on...

I live on the west coast... what days would this be because I can't make it until 4pm pacific on weekdays.  Oh and could you check this site out really quick and tell me if it is what i should look at. <a href="http://www.shadowrunrpg.com/book/" target="_blank">http://www.shadowrunrpg.com/book/</a>

It would most certainly be at weekends - trying to organize sessions at workdays usually results in people never speaking to their former friends again <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

For the books - essentially you would have to take a look at "Shadowrun Third Edition", which contains all basic rules, but I doubt you'll want to spend the 35 bucks.

Resurrecting this post from page #2 (again), for further contact, I'd suggest using PMs or E-Mail, depending on which is easier.

Could everyone going to play please send me a message so I can make sure we're not calculating with too many / too few people?

Also PM me/email me at <a href="mailto:Captain684@aol.com">Captain684@aol.com</a> with either character concepts you want to run and/or their stats.

As for character constuction, I'll try to go with cannon rules (nothing more than avail. 8, etc) and you can use the priority system, the build system (found in SR Comp), or BECKS found at  <a href="http://tss.dumpshock.com/15/art15-b.html" target="_blank">BECKS</a> (tell me which one you used to I can double check).  As for items, spells, and the like please use those only found in main rulebook.  If you really want to have something else (i.e. bioware), PM or email me what you want, the book or webpage its in, and a good reason for giving it to you (the better this is, the more likely I'll grant it, and no Smartlink 2s I hate them).

That should be it, any questions and the like can go to Nem or myself.

    Thank you.

It might be easiest for everyone if we used the <a href="http://matrix.dumpshock.com/mcmackie/" target="_blank">Shadowrun Character Generator</a>, which allows you to export your Char's stats into handy .html documents and send them to whoever needs them.

Supports all usual generation methods, all skills, weapons, spells, and a buttload of cyberware.

Sorry to drag this up yet once again, but I just found something that will be very helpful for everybody interested in playing Shadowrun.
On the official site <a href="http://www.srrpg.com" target="_blank">Official Shadowrun Site</a> there is lots of info and on this page
    <a href="http://www.srrpg.com/newbie/timeline.shtml" target="_blank">Timeline</a>
is the complete background story how the world has changed till the year 2060. I'm sure you can find some useful info there if you're interested.
Sorry again for bringing this back up...
