    For the random hall, make the sides have a couple of holes in them and when you actually play the game, skulks pop outa it and ambush your squad.

    If you don't want skulks poping out of them, I'd still say to add holes to it and give it a battletorn look.

    This is Natural Selection single player?

    I'm afraid that I can see no resemblance between the NS we know and these screenshots except for the Lmg and the phaze gate. It doesn't look like the NS universe. I suggest you take a good look at the maps in the multiplayer version, and take inspiration from them.

    And why is there a screenshot of the console on your screenshots page!?

    The NS look and feel is quite clearly laid out in the mapping guidelines, and this ain't it. For NS single player i'd expect the kind of atmosphere seen in the offical NS maps plus some (comprimises had to be made for multiplayer gameplay, that wouldn't have been made for singleplayer).

    I see you're still ripping off alien(s) textures <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The rooms need framing brushes around the doors, windows and consoles.

    Lots of small bright lights helps to build the NS atmosphere, better than 1 light per room.

    Need any help? (plus, the regular feild Phasegate looks odd, maybe have a bigger, less portable version? Also, consider scaling down thew corridors, normal military vessels are cramped beyond beleif, and with habitable space at a premium in space, not to mention you gotta add life support to all the extra space.)

    Look at the screenshots. The second one looks like a very badly done hotel from Leisure Suit Larry. None of the images have any atmosphere, and the designs lack character, exactly what the NS environments shouldn't be like. Like I said, I advise you to look at the original NS maps.

    Blindfire, if you see these shoebox rooms as 'original', I have sympathy for your terrible, terrible eyes

    it's a work in progress, give the guy a lil slack, once he gets into a good funk, the project may look ungodly cool afterwards, give him some time, otherwise the NS commubnity will all migrate off because of all this haet

    I did not say it was good, I too think they lack detail. However you should not jump all over those just becouse they have a little different style then the offical MP maps.

    the one's with 4 textures. you should add beams or hanging lights or a border texture or something just add more too it than just a box room. The first pics for sure.

    Reminds me of the beginning of Half-life when you're running around Black Mesa before the Resonance Cascade. Same hallways and textures.. and randomly placed scientists. Carbon copy of HL.

    I do however like the idea of starting in a TSA/Frontiersman facility.. its cool, and a good starting point for a story.

    looks good except the one with the huge room with scientists, its just boring nothing really in it. The textures are also boring.

    i feel generous, im gonna donate my current map (combat style) im working on for the use of sp ns. if you need it, feel free to manipulate it in any way, also other mappers may use it, as long as i get some sort of credit for making it. i dont think i will continue with it, i was just playing around with lighting and the ns2 wad's textures.

    Don't have grids as a floor where people live and sleep.     pens? what pens. By now they MUST have nano-screens that look just like paper but either take spoken dictation or let you write on them with your finger.

    That said losing your bag of space-lunch down a grate would be a pain, so I see your point.

    Amckern really shouldn't do this project on his own, I think we need a team. I volunteer to help, if you want my help just say, and I'll start doing some map overheads for various areas to fit in with a storyline.

    Although i have to agree that the map needs work, i don't agree that people should be creatively limited by what the mapping guidelines set out. They are suggestions and as such don't need to be strictly followed. Consider how many official maps don't seem to follow most of the style guidelines.
