Mt Minimap Blips For Comm (1.0x Style)

would really help comms in public games
I know missing MT blips are intentional, I know it's to promote scouting and eliminate obvious marine advantage of knowing where are aliens moving with MT. But still..
aliens are quick, and "natural' scouts, they can afford to scout, marines often can't. Scouting doesn't work especially in pub games, it's hard to tell marine to jump endlessly through all PG and warn on incoming aliens.
If you don't have such scout single alien can take out PG in no time and onos/fade can wipe out even defended turret outpost before single marine phases in.
As a result, marine defensive posts are close to useless and single base rush often ends organized games even if marines are all HA :-)

Commander beign able to tell his marines where enemies are coming and warn them from attacks from behind was valued and recognized as good comm and therefore marines were listening him more.

They were really useful. I think they should be back in too.

Yes, comms should see MT blips with MT again. It would make getting MT or rushing it a incredibly effective tatic perhaps...

Also, when the comm brings up his mini map with +showmap, he should see all of his marines, PLUS little red dots that signify some sort of alien presence.

They were very useful. You could help out your marines and prevent them from being ambushed. For example, one of my men (I was comm) was going into cargo and I noticed a blip in the vent. I was then able to put an "Enemies Nearby" waypoint on it.

At the very least, I would like to be able to see the aliens that my marines are currently fighting!

This seems hit or miss. Sometimes I can see the aliens but most of the time I cannot. I've even wasted sensor sweeps just to see exactly what my marines were enganging and how I need to support them.

I miss this SOOOOOOO much. Funny thing is that there was no mention of it in any of the changelogs.

I always felt that MT best use was to the comm rather than to the marines, and now that that aspect of it is out, MT should be much cheaper to upgrade to.

    Oooh!
This is actually a really nice idea. MT in the comm minimap is pretty powerful, and at least in clanplay might result in an unstoppable marine mid- and endgame. However, making it less expensive but keeping it off the comm's minimap could really even out the still slightly alien-biased midgame.

its entirely possible to do the same thing -

if you have a few marines you trust on your team. ask them where they see the motion tracking - if they see 5 blips all heading somewhere - probably something you should look at. and, at the very worst, you can jump out of the comm chair yourself for a quick 5 seconds and get a quick appraisal of where the aliens are. the former method is far safer.

anyways, the more you communicate with your soldiers, the better.

Or do the oppisite; make it only work for the comm, and not for the marines at a reduced cost. This could be an equally large advantage.

I don't think MT for comm was so incredible in clan play, yes it was cool, it was used, yet even with it aliens were winning often with rushes (marines don't have res/time to afford MT, commander wasnt able to check it because he was busy or marines were just too far)...

But now without MT it's just stupid.. you can loose everything in no time and onos can run from RT to RT without comm knowing where it's heading now ...
I know marines "can" report, but in pub play, that's impossible and in clan play, it's still hard to do, since they can't exactly predict where aliens are heading and constant talking disturbs everyone.

And yes, invisible aliens fighting with marines make me mad too, i just know that if they are in range of obs, you see just circles instead of aliens as normal :-) (really "cool" effect...)

    Or or!
Turn it into two different upgrades, MT for comm (give it a different name, "gridlock monitor" or something) and MT for the troops, both costing 20 res.

Yeah in 1.04, it was pretty whatever. On a lot of maps it was all (or more than) the aliens could do to avoid getting spawncamped, much less be out and about. In 2.0, however, we like it alot. It's especially nice for keeping your 50-65 res worth of guns alive in the field during the midgame. Alas it's so expensive that you've got to sacrifice an upgrade or two, or delay your JP/HA to get it.

    Damn, beat me to it

One of the best parts of comm-marine support was that the comander was able to yell out incomings, in my own humble opinion. Nothing like moving into a hive and hearing over voicecomms, "Incoming from the left!", "Two more coming round the corner!", made it into a very hair-raising adrenaline fest like something out of a tense thriller movie.

Two seperate upgrades strikes me as a very fine idea, and worth looking into.

Seems like everyone agrees there should be MT for comm, so where is problem?
Does anyone know why it was removed? I think it was done by intention, but im not sure.. it might be bug or something technical :-)
