Ok, I am apart of a community that has a bit of a problem.

We have a heffty rig.

It goes at follows.

2.6ghz pent
1gig ram(2800 I believe)
too big of a pipe line
Windows server 2000
amx 0.9.3
stuck 1.0
metamod 2.5.6
hlds 3.1.1.0

The problem is we are running an 18 person server and the pings go to the 200s when we get 16-18 players.

Are there any server optimizations. Something were missing?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.!

you should monitor what is actually causing the problem, look at cpu usage (other processes could be hogging cpu down, you could try setting the HLDS process to a higher priority), memory usage (doubt it) and the location of your server compared to where your community of gamers is located and if your 'pipe' is really THAT big.

Is this a self-managed server or one rented from a hosting company?

Even if you have dual T1 lines running to the server NICs, that means nothing if the peering relationship among the backbones is poor or misconfigured. Really, you need to get a solid grasp of your network topology and get some of your players to run traceroutes to the server so you can see potential bottlenecks.

I have been assured that it isnt a connection issue.
