New Server Help Plz

Have set up a new linux 3.1.1.1 server running ns2.0 and patched with ns_i386-3.1.1.1

it WONs ok and and can be seen (on lan) but not connected too. Console says "Server Ip address Loopback" and "tcp/ip loopback".

thought it might be the sv_lan setting but same problem whether it set to 1 or 0

any ideas ?

server is running on a lan behind an internet router

Which console says that, the server console, or the client receives that error?

the "loopback" lines are what is in the server console.

the client console says "request timed out" but server browser, eg HLSW can see the server.

If the client is on the same private network, you need to connect to the server's local IP address, not to the public address (of your router) that the rest of the world sees.
