how do i make like one area of the map darker and harder to see then the other areas because im making this area where its easy for aliens to just pop up and jump the marines and i dont want it in day light ???

Wellll... If you're doing a full compile, then you shouldn't have fullbright on... but the way to do variable lighting is just how you do any variable lighting in any map. Perhaps the <a href="http://www.valve-erc.com" target="_blank">Valve-ERC</a> would be a good place to learn how to do lighting in a map?

thanks, one thing for some reason the last map i made it wouldnt work when i tried to play it ???

*shrug* Was it an NS map? Were you running it in the NSTR? Was it compiling right?

yes but every time it has an error in compiling

Then I'd definately suggest heading on over to the Valve-ERC, and finding out what that error means.

Yea or check and check out the <a href="http://www.karljones.com/halflife/almanac.asp" target="_blank">Handy Vandal's Almanac</a> Its got some nice tutorials and things that could help.
