Land mines

Speculation...
Will Natural Selection have landmines? Do you think landmines will work for either side? Will they be on one or both sides? Will you be able to stick mines to walls, ceilings etc? How effective will they be, will they be easy or difficult to see for instance?

All this and more on...oh wait, sorry, please feel free to speculate.

    If land mines ever do get implemented, I don't see the alien side being able to use them to attack or defend. But then, I don't think that this would be such a good idea anyways. I mean, we already have sentry guns and turrets that the marines can deploy to defend an area, and they'll have a much larger range than a landmine will.

    Yes, there are mines for marines, and perhaps something mine-like for the aliens that the lev2 can build (a gross pod that bursts in a shower of thorns and acid?).

    I really like mines, since they add to the 'set-piece battle' aspect of the game, where you are proceeding at a slightly slower pace than most mods, trying to set up that crushing defensive blow in order to weaken the other team long enough to take out their hives and structures.

    I agree with monse, land mines seem like a really good idea and you could balance it out by giving the aliens some type of one to that the builder makes, however, there should be a max mines on the battle field thing, like 3 per side, or else its walk and explode, not fun

    I don't think there should be any limits. I think that the RP available will be limiting enough. However, there -should- be a way of safely removing mines. Or at least -mostly- safely.

    Hehe, the only way I know to 'safely' remove them right now to do morph into something with, get regeneration, walk over one, wait until you heal, walk over another, wait until you heal, etc.

     There may also be a way for the commander to lay mines from the commander mode interface.

    Hehehehehehe... Look! I'm an alien mine remover! (Almost said human there...)

    Which brings up another point... what about the human v. human matches?

    You should be able to shoot a mine and make it detanote, or it is hit with a spash damage weapon it will explode

    mines could work a bit like Proximity Mines from Goldeneye on the N64. They would stick on any surface, so u could find cool places to hide them, then when an enemy gets too close... *BOOM*

    You got to have a chain reaction one explodes the others explode with it
    If you have it the trigger for the commander, you could try to get a big group by simply triggering one off
    The commander has to set up a camera (to have a person standing their would be a waste of man power and be watching when they come to trigger it off

    Aliens proxy small easy to hid in some conditions i.e. near hive exploded when human within radius of it exploding in a shower of acid harmful to both races

    Well thats the way I see it
    over and out

    Flayra, if you allow the commander to lay mines what's to stop him mining all the hive/alien spawn rooms?

    * Alien spawns *

    * BOOM *

    * Alien re-spwans *

    * BOOM *

    I'm sure you've already thought about this. Or would the marines have to 'build' the mines that the commander placed? Another point against the commadner laying mines is that he couldn't lay them on the walls or ceiling.

    i think mines would do great... i mean in most hl mods its only "run run run shot shot shot kill kill kill" untill u die... its not that fun
