Server resources.

Will they increase?
I plan to run a NS server when it's released, and I was wondering based upon the added complexity (commander mode) and map technlolgy release if NS will require more system resources than running a regular CS server. I have an Athlon 700mhz w/256megs of ram, and it ran CS just fine, want to plan ahead to make sure I wont need to upgrade my server to run NS. Anyone know whats up?

hmm Flayra said that the game will run fine if you can run cs fine, the netcode is the same, don't think they changed it a bit. So i would say you should be able 2 run the game fine, so you won't have to upgrade your server.

Running an NS server takes more resources then CS, but not a huge amount more. The network usage is currently a bit higher, but I think I'll have that optimized down for the first release. I run a dedicated server on my P2-400 with 128 meg RAM and it runs fine.

Only 128 megs of ram? Whoo, maybe I can downgrade my server and slap another 128 in the home PC.

I don't know if anyone has ever gone stat crazy and figured this out...but does anyone have any solid numbers in respect to how much bandwidth their server takes up per month based upon total users allowed. I know their are peak and off peak times, usually 4am to 11am is off peak for US, and 12am - 3am you get solid traffic. ( US based numbers) Anyway, any numbers would be much appreciated, need to make sure the campus network admins wont smite me for overuse

That's odd, I've never actually seen anyone come up with traffic utilization data for an HLDS. Hmph. Maybe someone here who runs a (windows Nt-based) server could volunteer to setup some perfmon counters and let us know?
