Hlds Crashing But Not "dying"

I keep having problems where when HLDS crashes it just gives a "Can't send message over X bytes. Server shutdown" and HLDS never actually turns off! -_- The server stops working but it just stays on the console.

Any idea how to fix this?

    Message that I get:

    L 08/10/2003 - 15:48:55: "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX<4><184XXXX><alien1team>" changed r
    ole to "skulk"
    SZ_GetSpace: overflow on MessageBegin/End
    L 08/10/2003 - 15:48:55: FATAL ERROR (shutting down): MESSAGE_END called, but me
ssage buffer from .dll had overflowed

And HL just hangs. No crash so anything can see that it's dead. Just hangs = /

Does this happen shortly after you start the server? If so, the error about not sending a message over 192 bytes is usually caused by having a MOTD that's too large.

That was actually about 15 minutes in to the game.

Also, I know that about the MOTD. Thanks for the idea though ^^

Running any bots? Message-sending problems happen a lot with bots.

I was having this exact same problem and it was when I was running whichbots on the server. Is there any know fixes to help prevent this type of crash problem without simply removing the bots?

My server runs HLDS 4110c on winxp
