broken 500 server mark
when NS was first released there were about 450 servers and it was pushing near 500 but then popularity declined and before the release of 2.0 there were around 350 servers only. now there is around 550 and it's pushing near 600.

i agree that this version is better than ever although i am quite unhappy with some of the changes which i have explained in other threads. however even though i am known affectionately on the forums as the angry man for being the strongest critic of NS i have to say that despite that i appreciate what Flayra has done and NS is my favourite game at the moment, and if Flayra stops recieving criticism from me then he should probably get worried because it means that NS has gotten so utterly crap that i've completely lost interest and don't give a damn about NS anymore. so Flayra, be happy that i'm still insulting NS

really? well i guess different programs give slightly different results. my numbers are based on gamespy. but what's certain is that 2.0 is the most popular version so far and NS is not dying as people thought before 2.0 was released.

Javert you mean 600. it has been clearly well over 500 the whole time since soon after 2.0 was released.

yah TFC is kinda ridiculous but i still play it occasionally because it's one of the best testers of your aim skill but NS is coming close behind. i like games that test your aim skill coz when you get an amazing number of kills people bow down and respect you coz they know it was all down to you and was not luck. that's why i hate CS, DOD, Medal of Honor, No One Lives Forever, Wolfenstein and many other FPS games because they fiddle with your aim in hidden ways like increasing the bullet direction randomization when you run, turn around, look in a dark room, look at a light, stand near a ledge, are being shot at, see a team-mate dead, hear strange noises behind you and all these things that are bot-code to simulate emotions and other biology that shouldn't be running when you are controlling the character because your own personal emotions and biology should be affecting your game character, and some of those things could and should be simulated by moving the crosshair around non-randomly instead of increasing the bullet direction randomization.

TFC is also one of the only games that makes me burst out laughing really hard because of the way people soar through the sky when they are hit by explosive or when gibs fly back whenever people get sniped. hahahaha i'm just laughing remembering it. i also had a mad convulsing laughing fit one time when the **** VIP insisted on gibbing himself repeatedly on the starting elevator for like 45 mintues straight and all the other players on the team kept trying to blast him the fock away from the elevator with their rockets so he couldn't crush himself.

Funny, I like games that test teamwork. Thats while ill play NS till teamwork goes out the window.

I never played multiplay halflife or quake or any of those standard 'shoot everything' games, they were just boring. And though it pisses alot of people off, in NS when the game gets to the 3 hour marine last stand I usually go to the ready room and then spectate. Just no fun standing there shooting all day.

actually a lot of people do that as VIP but they probably only do it once or a couple of times for a laugh. but this one guy kept trying to do it nonstop for the entire duration of the map till the time limit ran out. usually if someone says a joke twice in a row it's annoying but this guy must have crushed himself a hundred times and his determination to smash himself again and again and again ad naseum just had me in complete hysterics. the game just turned into the try-to-blast-the-VIP-off-the-elevator-with-all-the-explosives-you've-got-before-he-can-smash-himself-for-the-upteenth-time game. usually i get so annoyed when people try to sabotage their own team but this guys conviction and unbelievable persistence in trying to be the biggest **** ever had me laughing like a complete idiot after a while.

NS would probably get more players if Valve packed it with the Half-Life update.
