can we get a overhead layout of where things are?

It looks nice, but perhaps you should get some shots of hives/marine start.

this map, I thought, has always been one of the best looking custom maps out there. You usually are bashing yourself about how "horrible" your mapping skills are - but this shows otherwise. My only conern would be how balanced it is for both teams. The shots you are showing us look small and confind - hopefully other areas are large and more marine friendly.

mm arquitecture and texture remind me of caged. Really nice looking map i wish i can test it soon with the EC guys. Zazi ffs finish it. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Looks great, and that's the truth.
You could fiddle with env_gamma, the -gamma compile switch and light intensities to make the lights... well mainly the white light_spots look more defined and retina-burning <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

It looks fine, zazi. I like what you've done with the blue wall lighting to establish a theme throughout the map.
  • ZaziZazi Join Date: 2002-05-26 Member: 672Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
My readyroom does NOT suck. It is quite sexy. A black box with no lighting is all anyone should ever need. In fact, I'm going to change it to a pit where everyone falls into the "random team" ent so no one can be a llama. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

yes it was. I think that was the feedback Hodge gave to Fam after testing the map. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'd love to do the spider logo, but I'm no modeller. I could easily try doing a logo and create a set of textures with it (and an additive one y'know etc), but I couldn't do a mdl hologram. :/
Want me to have a go?
  • ZaziZazi Join Date: 2002-05-26 Member: 672Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
Go for it. I'm sure I could slap it onto a model.

    I would use the gonarch model, but it's not a spider. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Oh yeah... on the "coming soon" note... I am planning to playtest Widow in mid to late September. Finally.

Nice trick with that small long lights that only lighten one wall but not the room.
Bit this makes the bottom look odd.
    Lightning is too symetric also.

Er... are you sure? I think the lighting's great, personally. How exactly does it make the bottom "look odd" though? It looks fine to me.

Great job, Zazi, I like it a lot, although you already know this. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Er.. dark? WarpZone, have you checked the gamma settings on your monitor? Widow's just fine, imo, or at least it looks that way to me. No-one else seems to be complaining of that either.
