Stop Perma-gorging!

Remember res for kills
One thing I keep seeing which is really annoying me is people going gorge at the start of the game, dropping a res tower and staying gorge. Not capping anything else but wandering around "saving" for a hive. Then they start whining that the res is really slow. Meanwhile I've gorged at the start, thrown down a res tower, gone back to skulk and raced around killing marines. I return to an empty hive to find a gorge sitting underneith it complaining that his res has been so slow. I just reevolve and build the hive

Heres the thing guys: killing marines will get you that precious res so much faster. Sitting around "saving" as a gorge waiting for your res to go from 0 to 35 is a waste of your own time. Worse, it represents dead weight, because you're not contributing anything to the team effort apart from an occassional heal. If you must stay gorge, come to the front lines and heal people, then go back and build. Chances are though that an enterprising skulk will have already put the hive up.

Fluid changing of the classes is one thing that has to be utilized to succeed. If you have 100 res and you're a Fade or Lerk, don't hesitate to evolve into a gorge, through down some OCs or chambers and return to your preferred form. It's not as recommended to do this as an onos but if you need a nearby sens or mov chamber spending 20 odd res to do it isn't daunting. Remember, all the res you have is YOUR res. Don't always expect someone else to come along and build those structures. If you're at 100 res any further res you get is worthless because it just isn't going anywhere. One of the best way to use that res is to gorge and throw some stuff down. Even better, OCs can score some kills for you resulting in a better res flow.

yup I agree, although I cant help myself going gorge for too long sometimes, usually I start by going gorge, getting a res then skulking again right away, but sometimes I go and pick up some easy marine kills first for res then later on after the second hive goes up I usually run over to the third and pop up the hive and some defences, then go skulk again till the endgame.. seems to work pretty well, although I'm always seeing areas in need of reinforcement and waste all my res i was saving for a fade/onos so someone else can do it

Amen. Although perma gorges that drop chambers all over the place are still good.

i was in a game and we had 2 perma gorges and they dropped sensory chambers all over the map so aliens were almost always cloaked and they got lots of kills with oc's so i think if you know how to set up chambers correctly and use a little spit a perma gorge shouldnt be a problem.

True. Hadn't thought about it, but you're absolutely right. Will correct that in the future.

dont evolve back to a skulk, go out there and get some spit kills (more effective if you have a sensory nearby)

gorges are just as good as the backup they get and the healing they give.

I perma gorge alot, Toss down a senosry, wait a bit and then build a restower (senosry 1st incase the entire marine team decides they want the res you picked). Then I build 2-3 OTs and play bait the marine. Ill run out and spit once or twice at them hop to look like a noob and then run. Ill round the coner where my trap is and then hide behind my towers. 3 towers with a gorge to heal them genrally works aginst 2 decent marines, 3 marines will be able to take em down if there any good.
Once the second hive goes up I add a few DTs. This works REALLY well if you can take the maps double res point. For one you basiclly are taking and holding 2 res towers for the price of one defensive array. Not only that the marines are gonna WANT those two res which means if your ready for em you can rack up a HARDCORE res flow by setting murder traps. Build 1 ST, 3+ OTs get some skulks to camp there (if there are kills, they will come) and then add a back up ST and spam as many OTs as you can build. Concentrat on healing you skulks let your OTs do the killing (this denies res to the marines and will devolope loyal skulks)
I just sit back and let the res flow untill I can afford to move to the next res. I recomend that you save enough res to either build and defend a hive of build and defend another res node. (perferably closer to there base, which will genarte more res for you while deniing it to them)

That won't work against a competent marine team who use observatories.

Well placed OCs increase a perma-gorge's res flow. (:

I'm finding that I have to perma-gorge, simply because the rest of the team will see that there's one person who's gone gorge, and expect him to handle the resource/management side of things all by himself. It's going to take a while to de-program the effects of 1.04. I had soemone shout at me last night for building a TF in base. :/

Permagorging is not intriniscally bad, it depends entirely on WHAT the gorge does... Gorges can get more kills than a skulk, often, if he's careful... Such as with nicely placed OCs at a critical pathway, and a little healspray.
