Nice. Reminds me of some of the hallways on Babylon 5. I'm not sure about using the same texture for the supports and walls, you may want to re-texture that.

Killer work, Mu. I'm not sure why your screenshots look so different from everyone else's...are you using a lot of HL textures? Or maybe this is a subtlety of Quark?

Quite an original and entertaining story, one of the best I've read for any level, or even entire computer game. Unique and clever.

ChromeAngle Im working on the textures, I want to put some kind of embossing on the metal - cherubs holding bunches of grapes etc. like a plaster ceiling of a country house but in metal looking all shiny and sexy, Ill see what I come up with but Im not very experienced at textures. If some one would liek to have a go Id be your freind for ever(my freindship is easily bought). The pillars Im going to try and find a texture that exentuates their cuve, not sure now. The stuff on the floor is suposed to make it look like a small piblic thierter/seminar room - odviusly needs some work.
Flayra - cool, glad you like it all the textures are ns and half-life ones I altered to cut down r_speeds. I think perhaps the unique look is due to my rad setting, but thier a closly gaurded secret - I spent 3 hours this morning getting them close to what I want. The lighting still suck though - I think perhaps some purple spots towards the arches.
I really want to know what peopel think of the story? Dose it fit with NS time line and technology? Dose it explain enough? is it rubbish?

those textures 256*256 cherubs and deer and that sort of thing - if your not to busy airbrushing your face onto famuse people that is?

p.s. I already know what most of the map looks like because I saw it in a dream last nigh - seriusly("Could he be the one") so I'm pretty exited to see If I can get it right

Dude, you sure you're using -Half-Life-? I didn't see -planes- in that arch!

Wow, that is some extremely impressive work there! I'd have to say those "cube" shots are the best looking screens on these forums.
Nice, nice, nice!

-edit- Just wondering, what kind of r_speeds do you get in that curvy corridor?
• devilblocksdevilblocks Join Date: 2002-02-04 Member: 162Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
Ok, I'll ask... what are the r_speeds?

Yah, gve us some r_speeds! but those look relly sleek right now, I was in shock when I saw them!

Ok I checked 551 poly is the winning r_speed and can be found in the top right corner. Pretty much all the brushes in there have been made with vertex manipulation and face splitting to get the exact shapes I want with out bsp choping it into tiny peaces. The podium and seating is rubbish and I'll replace it with something more elaberate. The crew quarters and one of the old guest rooms which run paralel with this room are looking pretty good to .

Awesome work mu_.

I love these forums, just looking at what other people come up with is excellent inspiration.
Every time I see something like this I get a thousand ideas, which force me to load up WC and supplement/rethink/refine what I’ve done.

REAL nice, briliant architecture you got there.
• MuuMuu Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 23Members
Ok I couldn't resist putting up the crew quarters even though this is only their first rough compile, this map is like nothing ive ever done befor and its really exciting - Im really please you all like the look of it too. Im starting to wish I knew someone good at photoshop or even MS paint - my texture skills are poor. This maps going to take me months

I am loving this map's architecture. Almost UT/Q3-ee in it's curviness. How are your r_speeds doing?
• pielemuispielemuis Join Date: 2002-01-25 Member: 72Members, NS1 Playtester
Yeah i wonder myself, I mean it looks great but it has to be playable 2. Incredible architecture.
• MuuMuu Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 23Members
Dont worry about the r_speeds check the new pictures for some examples.

Polycount is manageable and architecture is great, but... For the polycount you've got, those areas in the shots are really small and empty... Not that I'm a gameplay expert or anything, but there doesn't seem to be any cover for the aliens to use (which is quite important for the smaller aliens, as I understand it).

But that's just my opinion, which means precisely nothing. Take it as you will.

PLZ don't add crates! Use some overthrown chairs or something.
