Ns Server In Peril Without Help!

Hi, me and another person pay for a 20 player NS server for our Guild (sometimes it changes to other mods). The payments are getting tough to pay between the two of us, and we need help. This is an open invite to anyone who can pay. The price is $80 USD per month (divided by 4 is $20, 5 is $16, etc). Paying admins get RCON access to server, and full admin privileges. If your interested, contact me <a href='http://www.gamer-guild.net/modules.php?name=Feedback' target='_blank'>Here</a>

NOTE: We need someone who can pay on a regular basis, no scattered months here and there.

How bad a lag? OC3 should have enough throughput to handle he server.

Do you own the box? or is the box rented?

    yeah

    but it probably isn't

man I want direct oc 72, that would kick ****

    is it linux, windows etc

and give me some specs please

    Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz
    1GB DDR
    512 KB Cache

    Linux Box
    RedHat 8

I rent it from my web hosting providor. I asked my hoster why pings are high and he has no idea. Pings typically range from 90 - 150 when its half-full and 150 - 350 when its full. Pings are high, but there are not any lag spikes (though when there are long games, and lots of ents, there are lag spikes)

those specs should be giving you much better performance than that surely? Anyone care to enlighten me as to why it seems so poor?
I only run an athlon 1.4 but it churns out pings typically 20-60 to all non-modem users, unless hera comes on or there are a LOT of turrets around <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

I have maxplayers at 16, but only 12 public slots, but those pings while empty seem very high indeed...

have you tried tracerouting? In the UK we sometimes find connections that go via Belgium (lol)

Roo it's most likely cuz it's on the same line as alot of webservers. Who know how many.. and how much bandwitdh is being used.. plus webservers (especially ones that host files) can lag out a big **** pipe with no problem. $20 dollars says that the NS server isn't the only thing runing on that box. Something really tells me that there is some websites being hosted of that server as well..

Rotten can check to see how much cpu is being used and for that fact how much memory.

    Memory Status

    Used: 888180 98%
    Free: 14728 kB 2%
    Buffered 116236 kB 13%
    Cached 237780 kB 26%

The server isint even running currently, because the router screwed up and is blocking the tcp port.

You have a rogue process in there bud... either that or your machine is not strictly yours to use.

    do a <!--c1--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->ps -aux | processes.txt<!--c2--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--ec2--> and give us some indication of what else is running.

21 procs of HTTP (you might be sharing the server)
    10 procs of perl (why?!)
    4 sshd?!

Check for a funky cron job or something
