    Second set isn't exactly my favorite, but I'm sure it'd look totally different in-game, of course.

    I wish I had my own texture artist... <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->

    Thanks i also notised that the screens where abit bright.
    But i made the previews quickly in tp2 before i went to bed. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
    Yes i know about the second screenie as its the textures for the outside of the building walls.
    And there will you yust have to be carefull and dont do them to flashy as i instead tryed to make them weather torn.
    The version with the grate is supposed to be put on the wall in an random order so that the outside wall dosent look to plain but still not to flashy.
    I also have another version of that wall somewhere i will yust have to find the screeni i whiped together with it yesterday.
    You should remember that these textures are ordered type i get the mail from badmofo make me som tex that will work on the outside of an building or make me an for the pod.
    And then i do them and tryes to make them with my own style but not to different than corys great textures.

    An bad preview of the pod texture i yust pasted them on to an cylindrical shape in tp will look alot better in game when badmofo puts it on to the pod prefab.
    As badmofo seams to make my stuff look good when he does his magic with them. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Wath can i say iam weird and have always bin an scifii buff.
    I think cory and i have the same way to get inspiration i look at movies read withedwarf mags and look at some of my books with art by rodney mathews and hr giger.
    I even have an chest burster from the first alien movie in natural size in latex rubber i think its made of.
    This does probably make me weird. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
    I even have the apc from the second alien movie as an scale modell and the alien runners from both 1 and 3.
    But that company closed down where i bought them so i havent bin able to find an new company here in sweden that sells stuff like that. <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->
    That was bad as i was on my way to order the alien dog runner thats the version of the alien between the chest burster and full grown.(Natural size also in latex.)
    I got my modells painted bye an profesional painter here in sweden.
    But it was probably best that the company closed down as i used mostly of the money i got over of my salary to buy these modells.
    as for the pod texture so did i make it as an crossover of an tank and industry machinery to get the right industrial look.
    And for the burns on it so did i use different layers of rust and black to get the right look.
    Hoepfully will badmofo be finished with the maps for up for now as we thought we neaded to do something really different
    than the style there is in up.
    To keep our go going as badmofo and i are still working on siberia and uplink for up that we hopefully will finish as soon as we have done this map for ns.
    Badmofo is making final adjustments on regime and harbour for up.
    But this gave me the time to do some of the custom textures he neaded for his ns map.
    O here is also the updated shoots of the fixed metal tiles that you hardly can make out of the earlier screenies.
    I worked them to look old and used.
    They are made to be used as an type of tile for floors in some places.
    As they will not work on larger floor areas.

    Thanks but i dont think badmofo have had the time to put together a wad yet as he wanted to do the naming and soo on for them.
    So be patient as the textures will be aviable as soon as badmofo and i have put it abit together as iam still making alot of changes to them and dont want to give them out before iam pleased with them and have made the final adjustments.
    And i dont want to bother badmofo right now as he have his hands full of studys and and finish the 2 maps for up.
    And to make the map for ns. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
    i know how it gets if you get to many requests as i got flooded at sometime at up bye all the mappers there wanting textures you do yust get stressed and your inspiration fades away so lets  give badmofo some time before we bother him with the wad.
    But i belive badmofo reads this and will make them aviable as soon as he can.
    And the textures neads to go thru flayra and cory to get the final ok as they are the leader and lead artist at the team.

    /me is jealous

    I've been weilding Photoshop for 2 years and now I'm even learning it doubled up at school (not that they teach me something new there) so that I can make money with it. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Man, Cliff, I am just completely amazed by what you've done there.  In fact, the only thing I can find wrong with your textures is that there aren't enough of them! <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

    me is jealous you have photo shop i only have corel photo paint 8 without any extra plugins as i got it as an gift from an small company i help out from time to time.
    I use paint shop pro5 and corel photo paint 8 when i do my textures and an optical mouse.
    I would realy want an wacom pad but they are to expensive and the same is it with software. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
    Thanks for the nice remarks you tell me wath i think of cory as he is an top notch artist. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
    Iam to limited but cory has an even flow in quality in his work.
    And if you yust use some layers with dirt and stuff on to your textures so will they be there to yust experiment.
    I fool around almost every day and learns new stuff to do the trick.:)
    I have never tested photoshop so i dont know how it is but people tell me that its the best.
    But i think corel photo paint is almost the same yust not that much cool effects.

    Yay!  Cliff is a fellow Photopaint user! <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->  I'm a Corel 10 user.  Just so you know, you're really not missing out on anything by not having Photoshop.  Corel 10 can even use Photoshop plug-ins and filters now.  We have both programs at work, and they are identical in features and power.  The only real difference is that Photopaint doesn't have a Mac-derived interface.  Photopaint has come a long way since its early days.

    Well, at work, the only plug-in package we use is Eye Candy 4000, and I don't really use it much at all.  10 already has so many effects and 'filters' that come standard.

    Nice work, Cliff.  Can't wait to see Badmofo put them to use.

    I wouldn't mind seeing some more details on the pod textures, though, to make them seem more military vehicle like.  Maybe some decals painted on, like a symbol, or some ever present warning stripes or something.  But I should probably reserve judgement until I see them on the pod itself.

    Just some random comments to note.  When I create my textures I run a sharpen filter on them in Photoshop to make the details pop out and I also bump up the contrast.  Is that possible to do in Corel Photo paint?  It's a preference really, and some people might not like to work that way, but it helps to get the textures that other people do to blend better with the ones available in the NS wad.  I've noticed that halflife textures and other ones can look really blurry next to the ones I created.

    Your metal wall texture looks good, but the last set looks a little flat.  Maybe some darker areas of shadows, to make some of the details stand out from the surface more.

    I would also really recommend getting your hands on a copy of Photoshop.  There are plenty of um...not so legal...copies floating around on the internet.

    Oh yeah, nice textures, Howling.  You have a really good start there.  I really like the worn, rusted look you are developing.

    I'd recommend some more contrast--darker darks and brighter light areas, especially for highlights to make the textures look more metallic.  I use the color dodge layer effect a lot to get a nice highlight effect.

    Keep it up.

    Thanks cory about the textures i know the pod looks a bit clean now but iam doing a bundle at the same time and tryes to give badmofo as much raw stuff as possible that i adjust after i get his coments as badmofo dont like his textures with to much stripes and stuff that i love to put on them.  <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
    And i must say that the only ones iam satisfied with right now is the wall textures for the outside and the rough design for the pod.
    The shiny textures you see above are only 160x160 pixels in size thats why they also can look abit stretched out.
    They are the clean ones that neads work but i also made other versions for badmofo to use that are rusty and dirty as this clean look will not work more then in an lab or something.
    And i agrees on you that many texture artists are making really blurry ones but iam always trying to put alot of detail to them and only slightly blurr.
    The earlier ones where really bad that i made of the shiny ones but i will improve i noticed that i stressed those textures not wath i usually do.
    Iam one of those people that tryes to stick to the non floating copies but thanks who nows wath happens as paint prgs are really expensiv.  <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    Some more rough stuff iam working on for badmofo.
    He sent me an screenie of an generator prefab he had made and wanted some custom textures for bye me.
    And dont complain about that the shape is crappy its only simple boxes i slapped together in tp2 to se how the 3 textures i was working on was working together.
    I can promise you that badmofos prefab looks alot better. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
    And yet again so is these versions the dirty and rusty ones as i also made clean ones for him to choose from.
    An the gauges and dials will be in separate textures pasted on bye mofo on to his prefab.
    I will trye to put up some better previews of this as soon as i have done some more textures waiting for badmofo to send me some more angles of the prefab so i know wath to do as i only have an screenie in on low angle.   <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    Dude. Really cool particle effect in the hole, or between the two metal plates complete with env_beams with high variances or whatever they're called, and you have a -really- nice generator.

    I think you got it wrong as this is the part only to be the bottom attached to the floor.
    I dont want to say to much but you will see when badmofo posts the next batch of screenies as i also will stop now for a while. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
