Name My Kid!

We are expecting a boy in late September, and we are stuck on what to name the little guy. We already had a name if it was going to be a girl, but no such luck. So, I'm counting on the creative resources in this community to help! Here are the criteria we have:

1. NO 'conventional' names. We like unique names, and we want to avoid him having the same name as anyone we know. Semi-conventional names are okay, as long as they are not in popular use at all. As an example of what we mean by this, we were going to name a girl Mina. No one we know has that name, but it was a name in use a long time ago (it was actually usually short for "Willamina"). Plus, it was the name of a fictional character in a book that my wife and I really like.

2. It must go well with the last name Roberts. This pretty well excludes any name beginning with R, because that just sounds ridiculous.

3. Only serious names will be considered. Funny stuff is fine, but I really do need serious suggestions.

4. No 'biblical' names.

5. The name must sound good in all situations. What we mean by this is that you should imagine the name being used when we are speaking to him, calling him from a distance, talking to him sternly, talking about him with others, etc.

I promise to read all entries, but I can't guarantee that any will be used. We are extremely picky. :)

Help us!! Thanks!

    Hey, 'grats!

    I have a name for you... It's Gorge <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The name kinda depends on where you live... It might sound cool in some countries and in some might not.

    My name suggestion: Peitsa. It's not a very well known Finnish name. I can't whip up some others if you want <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    hey ever thought of jr.?

    hehe just a thought..

    i like the names cole, ryan, or riley. if i ever have a son(s), i'd consider those names.

    semi-conventional - timothy, matthew, nathan, james, micheal, hayden, roy, grant, julius...

    actually two syllabol names sound good with the last name roberts. and that don't start with 'R'.

    congrats on for the new baby boy!

    goodluck finding a name.. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Here are a few Scottish names ya might like the sound of (btw I'm Scottish) - Euen, Silas, Alistair, Dugal and Lachlan.

    These are jus ones that came off the top of my head. I would write more but I'm sure you could look up sum more Scottish names yourself. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> You will prolly find they are quite similar to Irish names. This is because Scotland was populated by alot of Irish in the past.

    Congrats btw <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I like kitty's suggestion of Cole. A good friend of mine used to teach primary school kids, one of whom was named Cole, and she loved the name.

    Another suggestion could be Joshua.

    Congrats! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Ezekiel... or, if you want to get really old school, Ezechial. Or just name it for which number child it is... So your first child would be Primus, the next would be Secundus, and so forth...

    Hehe, my children better hope I'm not the one in charge of the naming...

    Edit: Hm... is Ezekiel considered a biblical name? Eh. Fine, then name him V'Hil.
