Get your map playtested and reviewed!
Okay, so we're not really professionals, but we HAVE been doing this a while

The TFC Map complex ( http://www.mapcomplex.com ) has decided to take on NS maps, as the TFC map pool is running very dry. I'm really excited, as I can't wait to start reviewing for NS, but we need one thing:

MAPS!

That's where you mappers come in. If you have a map that you have made and would like to have playtested and then reviewed, send it to jeffraven@mapcomplex.com. Please no beta maps, however, only fully released maps - we aren't a beta playtesting service, the playtests are just a way for us reviewers to write something with a basis in experience. TFC maps you can kind of figure out just looking at them, but NS maps are gonna have to be tested before us reviewers will be able to figure out what to say. Also, please only submit maps that you yourself have made.

The way that the Complex works is you submit the map, we schedule a playtest (usually weekly, and the TFC ones are on Saturday at 1PM EST, and NS may take this spot), and then two or maybe three maps will be played fully through. Afterwards, players leave feedback, and then us reviewers give our opinions on the map.

There's no need for you to have your own hosting, either -- we put all of the playtested maps up on our website for playtesters to download.

For more information on the playtests themselves, check out this thread in General Discussion.

I am part of the reviewing team for Mapcomplex and have been reviewing TFC maps for some time. The playtests are loads of fun and open to the public, so anyone can join. We hope to get many submissions from you talented authors and have success within the NS community.

well, ns_eclipse was officially released to the public as a finished map. It's not ns_eclipse_b4, it's the final version of ns_eclipse that everyone gets and plays. Even if it's not perfect, it's still "finished".

Dont expect to get one ns final map released every week.
This thread will stay in mind and be found by seach engines when ever a final is finished ...
BUT NOT stay on top all the time.

Not as long as noone [b]webbs/b] it.

Would be different if you play beta maps

Yeah, I know, I'm just trying to make sure people see it.
Also, people already HAVE custom maps done, but I don't think we can review them unless the authors submit them. I mean, look at the NS map listing in one of these threads -- there's a good twenty or more maps out there already. That'll take a few months to go through on its own. But we need people to submit 'em first!

Yes, we do accept and review "fun" or gimmick maps, but they don't usually score as high as "normal" maps. Our out-of-100 scoring system is geared much more towards normal maps, and even though the "fun" element of a map is a pretty good chunk of the score, if a map lacks teamwork, good design, a nice layout, etc., it will end up with around a 50% score no matter how much fun it is. Now, the "Reviewer's Opinion" score (the unofficial score at the end) will reflect the fun factor much better, and the review will be focused mainly on the good elements of the map, but the bottom line is that gimmick maps don't numerically score as well as regular maps.
