<div class="IPBDescription">It does nothing</div> Nano-Gridlock went C-D, A few other servers i play on use it too. What the hell is the point? My computer is already full of enough crap already... And if someone wants to cheat bad enough they just find a crack for CD, Click their heels together twice, Then sing O'Canada before going in and cheating as much as they like.

The point of any anti-cheating measure is not to curb 100% of the cheaters out there. That's an unreal goal. It's to keep the people who code them busy until they choose to give up, and to stop the 60% of the people out there who are just playing around with it, and will give up after a few unsuccessful attempts.

I have to agree. If there are hacks for HL there will be hacks for NS <i>and</i> for CD.

It's just a big pain having to install CD and seeing those [NO C-D] tags all over.

On the other side CD has issues with any mod that is supported by VAC, wether or not the server has it enabled. And since VAC is supposed to be coming in on 1.1 you won't have to live with it much longer.

    Argh! The goggles do nothing!

Well, at least someone is making an effort to combat the cheats, even if it means only some get filtered out.

Actually, the new version of C-D works with VAC-protected mods, so long as VAC is disabled on the given server. They don't work concurrently, but they now can be chosen between on a VAC-integrated mod.

First of all we should never give up. Even if you may think its pointless noone should give up.

That being said, i think you need to calm down. CD barley takes up 1000kb of resources by running in the backround, and if that makes you lag...well then i think you have some other problems you should be worrying about.

The point of CD isn't to stop all hacks, it's to make a server a harder target. A person with a hack waltzes up to a server with C-D. He goes, "Damn my hack doesn't work with C-D."
    Now, he's got two choices:

    1. Go through all the trouble of finding/making a hack that works with the latest version of C-D
    2. Take 15 seconds connect to another server that doesn't have C-D

I know which choice I'd pick if I was a lame, retardo, ridilin-addicted cheater

Having C-D is like locking your car door. Sure there are criminals out there that know how to pick locks but the fact remains that not ALL of them know how to do it, and even if he does, maybe he'll think its too much bother and look for some schmoe that didn't lock his door.

Plus on hullu's you get this cool TSA icon next to your name if you got the latest version of C-D installed <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

From my past experiences, with **** people off in Counter-Strike. Cheating-death is absolutely the most useless anti-cheat program ever used. Half-Life Guard is much more effective than Cheating-Death.

Also, every hack that came out while Cheating-Death was out had a Cheating-Death version built right into it. So, it's just a waste of time because a majority of cheats out there are rip offs of OGC and UGC.

I could put my monitor gamma higher than heaven (up to 9) to NO black hiding place in any map.
No anticheat tool can block this, screen capture tools would not notice it.
    Its just stupid.

Blocking at least mayor cheats is a good thing to doo.

I still wont install it, ever. Bad memorys from running Punkbuster and getting weird WON errors right after

Changing my name to [No C-D] is my own little way of speaking out against it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

If punkbuster supported the Halflife engine they could block people changing their in game settings for Gamma and such.

Maybe it was just the server I was on... but when I tried today, any higher than 3(my default, and dont whine at me, go check out if yours isnt at 3 <b>by default</b>) would not make any difference at all. There were some very weird things though, like only the models updated in brightness, so until x location got lit up by for example a IP spawning a marine, it would be the gamma I had first when I joined the server... then when the IP lit up the place, it got DARKER <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Looked quite weird.

EDIT: Oh right, silly me, not the ingame gamma, but the screen gamma...

I had my CD on one day, and I joined a server...the server told me I had "edited my HL files, and could not play, and I was kicked"...I turned off my CD and reconnected, with no problems.

Havn't run CD since that day. Besides the fact that there are MAYBE 3 servers out there with CD req, and maybe 5 others with it optional, no one uses it, and hence...the program ceases to do its intended fuction.

C-D is also more for the poeple that always play on the same server. For me, I'm glad Redphive will put it Required soon (now it's optional). SInce I always play there...

HLGuard and CD use different ways for preventing cheating. HLGuard simply detects and kicks with a bit of cheat blocking (hmm maybe its got what CD does already in it) CD sits between I think its the engine and Windows to stop cheats from working. If you go use a cheat it wont detect and kick, you just wont be able to use it. Read the website...
