Ns_hera Is Still Abit Un-balanced

any changes planned for 1.1 ?
Just a quick fyi that ns_hera is still horribly in-favour of the marines if the aliens start in vent or archiving (not so bad if they have data-core)

A nice tempory fix would be to lock the alien starting hive into data-core cos if the 'rines have half a clue they can win from a vent or archiving alien hive start.

Horridly in favour of the marines? What servers you playing on?
But, it doesn't matter, Merkaba is at university, and will likely be unable to touch Hera for 1.1.

I wasn't really talking about that match in particular.

I've lost 1 game commanding in hera that I can remember and we were SERIOUSLY outclassed player for player.
As in we had level 1 armour and weap upgrades, MT and a good 30 seconds warning and they charged up maintinance tunnle as skulk and anihilated the intire team with level 3 cara.
I think I've lost mebbi 2 games commanding it since 1.04.

As for that game just now.

it was 9 vs 9 on hera. Major bonus for us.

BUT, You had some damn good lerks, good coordination.

Against this we had a commander (me) who wasn't using voice com (housemate asleep).

And a fairly large number of players who due to lack of vocal orders didn't do what I wanted (which wasn't necessarily what i asked )

Its horrificly imbalanced for an organized marine team.

Base, General cargo, holo room and reception.

5 res nodes you can protect while holding just 2 locations.

If they're in archiving you can also get maintinance and vent.

If they're in vent you can get data core alpha node.

Thats 6 or 7 res nodes.

So marines do you wana finish with HMG/HA? HMG/JP ? HMG/GL

Hell Few games ago I go them to secure datacore alpha with a phase and loads of HA/HMG marines then built a cc and 8 IP's and had everyone suiside to loose the equip then rush their hive in LA/LMG for a laugh.

if the aliens can hold cargo, def chambers on the big box take out marine base, get 2 hives (edit: i mean second doh my english sucks) during marine relocations. either relocation feasible to block, play good (lol) try to win?

Er, the marines should have that door open befor the aliens get def chambers.. If they can't get down the maintinance corridor they're in serious trouble.. Although you can still relocate to holo-room which is a very nice place to relocate to.

BUT, thats not the point, the point is the map is too easy for marines.

the aliens camp that room duh :/ that is the key room on the map even more crucial than holoroom. Its the rooms you fight for jesus christ, aliens can get there first from any hive and there are nasty entrances bar the autodoor.

If you get a base up in processing, you can siege ventilation and data core...

I find it funny also that you still can siege both hives from that location.

its surprisingly easy to defend too

Ok, on total unorganized pubs, marines should win this map. But, on "good" servers (Nano Gridlock, Donce, redphive, FoR, etc), a good alien team vs. a good marine team, usually the aliens win. It's all about the very good vent network, they can move around and organize mass attacks from 4 directions at once that no marine team can stop.

Look at the hive locations in hear....jesus.......thats like a party ground for lerks!Data core is very cramped + vent, vent hive has this BIG FAT vent + the sewer area downstairs AND archiving top and bottom are excellent places for lerks sniping.

The problem is the ease for the marines of getting and protecting res nodes, no other map allows you quite the same level of sick res holding except ns_nothing with the cargo hive (which also needs fixin).

You can preach all you like about how easy it is for the aliens to attack holo room or general cargo but if the marines weld the vents shut the map is no easier than any other to attack on. Holo room is a dream to defend the marine base is a dream to defend assuming youj're smart about it. (ie point a gun down the maint corridor rather than shut it)

Pretty much the only method the aliens have to attack you is going in via general cargo storage.

So the 'rines have to turret it.. I wonder if they can afford to..

Comprox, we are playing on good pubs. Warservers usually sees the best level on organisation you can get on a UK server, with some pretty good players. It's usually full of clanners from FSA, LoG, eH and OV [OV are somewhat varied in skill, admittedly. We moved over from another non-fps game, so some of us are good and some aren't ]. The teams are typically well coordinated, and each individual knows their stuff. BlueGhost's strategy involves sending someone to weld general cargo right at the beginning of the game, then taking entrance and reception and holoroom. Even if the aliens manage to keep you out of holo and entrance and reception (which, given the ability to enter via maintenance if they've really got reception locked down is pretty unlikely), two res nodes is plenty for a JP rush on an insanely JP friendly map like hera. If they've got archiving it's easy to hold maintenance and vent res too. The only time I've seen BlueGhost lose hera is when myself and some other pretty skilled players slaughtered his team full of newbies who couldn't shoot straight, let alone follow orders .

Basically, it's hard to lose. If the aliens are going for anti jp rush, they'll either get full cara ASAP to take out the base quickly (solved by extensive mining, and the correct use of MT by the comm), or they'll go for fast res, which means that they will have a terrible time trying to hold/take back holo.

If anything, I'd say hera favours disorganised aliens vs disorganised marines more. Marines that really work together with a good comm on hera have a hard time losing.

no what I mean is when you hold cargo as you can then have dc regen in their base it forces relocation (due to lubberly tight areas between res nodes), which has its problems. Also the central location of cargo allows for a quick 2 hive and harass hopefully, but this requires speed oh so much speed otherwise the marines will make you cry.
