Fps Problems

YES, I have read the Sticky
My problem seems to be unique; I've gone through the sticky, but I couldn't find anything that would help. NS is pretty much unplayable on my system; I get 2 to 15 fps, depending on the situation (sometimes as high as 25 in the Readyroom tho).

My specs:

Celeron 701mHz cpu
128mg SDRAM
Gigs of free drive space
Radeon 9000 128mg Video Card

I don't have junk running the background (I use End-It-All before I play) and I have the latest drivers for my video card. I run OpenGL at 1024x768 resolution, but changing that doesn't help, and in fact, when I make it less than 800x600 I actually get poorer performance. All other Half-Life mods work very, very smoothly on my system (except for TFC occasionally) and I can't figure out why NS won't do the same. I can play higher level games like Max Payne and GTA3 without problems.

I was experiencing similar problems in Max Payne as I do in NS until recently when I switched the settings from Software T&L to HardwareT&L, and I got a gigantic performance boost.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've read the tweaking guides, but can anyone think of a possible solution specific to my problem?

    That should work. :/

Check your rendering mode. OpenGL? 16 or 32 bit?

And, as you said, this is only an NS problem? Other HL mods do fine?

Turn off background music, perhaps? Maybe some conflicts there? Does it matter if you start the game via a shortcut of whether you just open HL and then select the mod?

It's not a problem with my internet connection; like I said, I get fine performance from other HalfLife mods.

The crappy framerate usually only affects me when there are player models and structures visible on my screen. Also, it gets worse when there are more players playing in the game.

Radeons aren't the best games cards for HL. Try D3D, but tbh I saw a huge fps increased when I changed from a Celeron500 to a P3-750. That was over two years ago now and I'm on to P4's now
NS is much more cpu and ram intensive than other hl mods (as far as I know but I never looked because I get 100fps on my P4 and 40 on my old P3), you haven't mentioned what version of directX you are running or even what OS. Try monioring CPU and Memory use during the game.
