Game won't start

Hi everyone.

After 120+ hours playing the game it seems like it won't start again. I've played the game with many different settings and components (I've been spending some money on my PC). Lastly I bought a graphic card, tested Subnautica, everything was perfect.

Now a week or two after it, without any problem I double-click subnautica and it just won't start. My PC loads the game, a window opens for half a second, i can see the icon ony my task bar for 0,2 seconds and then it crashes and dissapears.
Nothing works. Searched, read, tried and followed stepts on all threads for the last 2 years, tried everything with Steam, Subnautica, Windows and whaterver I could.

Won't work. I'm really frustrated because I had not changed anything, anything updated, eveything is like it was a week ago but it just wont' work.

Thanks for any help!!

    Log files?

Here's a list of things that can be useful for a bug report:

    1. Your Subnautica\YYYY-MM-DD_HHMMSS folder(s), if it/they exist
    2. Your Subnautica\Subnautica_Data\output_log.txt file
    3. Your dxdiag (search it from the start menu or use the run box) output saved to dxdiag.txt or similar ("Save All Information" by the exit button on the lower right)

You can upload those to something like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc and post a sharing link. Or you can paste them into PasteBin and post a sharing link.

If the error might be with your specific save, you can include your saved game slot: it's the Subnautica\SNAppData\SavedGames\slot00xx folder

You can compress the saved game (and/or the error reports if you want) using 7-zip, WinRAR, WinZip, or Windows, just remember, efficiency-wise, it's 7z > rar > zip

Upload the archive somewhere (see above list) and post a sharing link to it.

I saw somewhere that it is an issue with the Unity player. The person's thought was that there is an issue with it being incompatible with certain drivers. Basically, what I was told was that I needed to wait until the developers fixed it. Attached are my log files...maybe it is something on my end. Any help would be appreciated, I just want to play this awesome game!

Any idea why when I open xbox 1 subnautica, it wont get past the launch screen? It closes before it even gets to the title screen.

@Jellyray214 I would recommend a reinstall. Probably best to restart xbox just before the uninstall, so no Subnautica files will be loaded in memory( based on my pc experience, I don't know if consoles have fixed these issues).

Having the same problem on PC. What I've tried and didn't work:
    • Startup as admin
    • Reinstall
    • Verify Steam files

Added the latest logs, though Sub/SubData/output log didn't work. Maybe in a second post? I can post it but it's really long.
Also, I could run the game perfectly fine before.

it may appear that I have had the same issue.

I've had a problem with the game, it appears that it will not run. I have played a few hours on the game working just fine then all of a sudden it does not work. when trying to run the game it briefly flashes up on screen then crashes (the split second screen seems to portray a, 'game saving' screen). I have already reinstalled the game at least twice and the problem still does not go away. running it on a PC. have verified the integrity of the game through steam too

    working yesterday, not working today.

When I go to open Subnautica is says something like the "the game cant update (game is still running)" does anyone know how to fix this?

@Meadorsgrimes first thing to try is restart your pc. On Windows 10, even shutting down and turning on doesn't clear all files( unless you disable fast startup)
