What happened to the Degasi crew's Cyclops?

I remember in the PDA data entry about how Marguerit tied a leviathan to the back of the sub and brought it back before it destroyed their base and all that stuff, but what happened to the Cyclops if the base still remains?

    Maybe it was still attached to the Leviathan while it was destroying their base and afterward it dragged it off to the abyss where it died and sunk into the murky depths.

    (I can't imagine that the creature would have survived with a rather large submarine attached to it)
