we need a better weapon than just a knife. im not saying and gun because that wont work with the lore of the game, unless the main character finds a way to hach the system to allow him to craft guns. we need a throwable spear with like a tether to keep from loosing it. the game is great but there isnt a way to really defend yourself.

Well the in game lore says all DEADLY weapons (so the status rifle doesn't count) expect the knife were removed from blueprints due to some big event. Also there are ways around it like the PRAWN is deadly. Using the drill or just its "bare hands" do a lot of damage.

There's really no point... on top of it, YOU'RE the one disturbing their habitats and homes not the other way around. this isn't Ark , Terraria, factorio or Minecraft, weapons don't have a place or a real use. You don't get anything out of killing the fauna anyway. Besides it's an exploration game. On another note, the fauna only attack you once then go off on their merry way for a while.

the point is to have a more ranged weapon. there are fish that attack you so it would be nice to at least have a fighting chance also it could be used to make hunting for food easier

The stasis rifle is more than enough to deal with most threats from a distance. I've never used it myself (it's literally worthless in my eyes as i'm always in PRAWN or seamoth anyway) but the wiki says you can freeze a 20m diameter for 30 seconds. That's pretty OP, especially since most of the AI for the aggressive fauna is relatively territorial and will swim away when you get far enough away, which, 30 seconds is far more than enough to even charge another shot. It also uses batteries which are easily charged/crafted.

The Stasis Rifle does do the trick for making fish catching easier, but it would be kinda-sorta neat to have a Spear Gun also.
I wouldn't expect it to kill any of the larger fauna, but it does go with the underwater theme, especially for fishing.

Due to a massacre on Obraxis Prime several hundred years ago, lethal weaponry was removed from basic survival fabricators. As the knife has been a vital tool for human survival for thousands of years it is the only exception.

That's why we aren't getting any weapons. Stop asking for weapons. There will be no weapons.
