Surplus Stalker Surprise.

Greetings.

I created a multi-level containment tank in my new base. Rather exciting as I had quite a few unidentified eggs.

I put in four and rather to my surprise; they hatched into a Bone Shark, Crash Fish, Sand Shark and Stalker. Oh well, I thought, it won't be the cute fauna, now I must find a Leviathan egg. ;)

Careful to only look for eggs which didn't match what I had so they wouldn't breed out of control, I came across an egg which looked like a Stalker egg but was unidentified. Since I could see that I was able to identify eggs from the species I had hatched I concluded, I must be something similar and into the tank it went.

A few expeditions later, I came to take a look.

The four (or five, I should have counted) layer tank was FULL of Stalkers!

Not what I had intended at all. Looking for the positive, I wondered if this might mean I no longer needed to seek out Stalker's teeth. Alas, my Stalkers apparently live the good life and keep hold of their teeth.

So then I decided I had to get them out of there.

I SPENT THE NEXT HOUR carefully removing them and taking them to a Kelp Biome far enough away from my base that they wouldn't interfere with the local fauna.

Each time I returned for more there were about nine new eggs waiting, hence the time it took.

As I released them, they smiled and thanked me with umm, a loving nip. I laughed and rebuked them, telling them I could have released them into a thermal vent! They laughed too and proceeded to try to dismember me. Interestingly, other predators I have released such as a Bone shark had no interest in thanking me in such a manner.

I must warn future travellers, however, that there is now a Kelp Forest hole and its caves which nobody without an Exosuit would wish to explore.

The tank is back to how it was intended, however. :)

Cheers.

They breed pretty quickly it seems xD

    Pity they don't remain friendly to you after you release them - though then it might get a bit confusing if there's a native one in the area... ^^;
Unless they FIGHT EACH OTHER. Player-bred monsters vs Native monsters. D:

Um, why didn't you just make a couple lockers and fill it with Stalkers? Empties the tank right out.

Then you can deconstruct the lockers, or bioreactor... >:)

*gasps* I see you live up to your name! I didn't want to be reported to PETP, People for the Ethical Treatment of Pixels, of course! ;)

    Cheers.
