Haven't seen one of these threads in a while. This isn't a thread for who's rig is the best, it is ultimately for anyone seeking to upgrade their system or to gain a basic idea as to what people are running currently.

Format as follows-

Headset/Mic:

I'll start,

CPU: i5-2500K @330GHz
Motherboard: MAXIMUS IV GENE-Z

Ram: 8GB
O/S: Win 7 Ultimate

looking at those specs no wonder that everyone else in the competitive scene has an advantage^^

    well ok here mine:
    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
    Motherboard: Asus P5KPL/1600
    Video: AMD Radeon HD 5770

    Monitor: Acer G206HQLCb (60Hz)
    Mouse: Logitech Performance MX
    Keyboard: not important
    Headset/Mic: not important either

to upgrade my CPU I need a new motherboard, which also requires new RAM. so basically a new PC

    Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AMD

When it comes to NS2 the AMD system could only pull 100fps with dips to 20fps in heavy combat. Current system maintains 110+ with 90 dips.

Most games are still GPU bound, so with a high end GPU he can still get all the good graphics. It's just the FPS that will suffer.

with these specs, it was unplayable when i first preordered early on (don't remember exactly but <10 fps for sure).
later on things improved and i got an average of something like 30 fps while playing normally. sometimes its better when theres not much going on, but intense combat with many players/structures is not really enjoyable as it drops between 10-20, in worst cases even <10 again.
as a nice side effect, ns2 turns out to be the most effective way to keep my room warm in winter :) i elevated my laptop a bit to prevent it from running too hot.

CPU: I7 930 OCed at 3.21 including turbo, so single core in turbo goes higher. (could be way higher but im a sucker for having a CPU not going bove 50c with the cooling I have now so I didnt OC more.. aaah, silence)

I usually aim for around 60fps in most games. (I dont notice a difference of higher fps, personally, on this monitor.)

Ahh one of these threads... here's the specs of the tower I just built a few weeks ago. I think I did a good job seeing as how it's my first build ever. lol

    CPU: Intel I7 3820 @ 3.6 GHz
    Mobo: ASUS P9X79
    RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance (4x4)
    Video: R9 290x 4GB
    Cooling: Seidon 240M + 5 Fans
    SSD: Kingston 240GB
    HDD: WD Black 4TB

Monitors: 42" Panasonic HDTV + an old 19" Dell monitor
    Mouse: Razer Naga
    Keyboard: Razer Black Widow
    Headset: Logitech G35
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

Best upgrade by far was the SSD... NS2 went from 2-3 minute load times to about 5-10 seconds.

can't believe it all fits so well in the case! It's also SO much quieter and cooler than in a full tower lian li case (which cost about £200) from my last build, despite being overclocked on both cpu and gpu.

    Server,

I5 3570k @ 4.6Ghz, (1.52 volts don't ask me why I had to pump in so much for stability) temp around 50c on a loaded server
    2x 4GB ddr3 crucial ballastix 8-8-8-24 (low profile)
    Asrock Extreme III Z77 mainboard
    Deepcool Neptwin Air cooler
    60GB SSD

    My pc atm:

    I5 3470 @ 3.2 (3.6 Turbo boost)
4GB kingston hyper X, (waiting for DDR4 upgrade)
Palit GTX 770 OC version 2GB
    Some crappy mainboard
    60ggb SSD
Monitor 27 inch LG 60 Hz

Got a laptop aswell where I idle on NS2
    Core I5 2450m
    4GB ram
    GTX 630M
    750GB hdd

I know my I5 isn't the best OC chip around, and can't be used for gaming, but I am not using it for gaming atm, just hosting a server or 2, hence the pumped up voltage
