A Stupid Question

regarding blink
I started playing as Kharaa today, and no matter what I could not figure out how to make blink work, or even figure out what exactly its supposed to do (I know it teleports, but I have no idea where to or how far). I've checked the manual and it doesn't say how to use it.

Well, the problem with blink is that it simply slides your hitbox reeeeally really fast.... And if you aim even the tiniest bit downward, your feet immediately run into the floor, and you stop. The easiest way to blink is to crouch, then aim a little above center....

Also, try to avoid blinking onto grates, doors, and lifts... You might get stuck...

    basically what xen said ~

duckjump aim slightly upwards and then blink, extremely useful for traversing lift shafts and such like as you _have_ to aim upwards for them ;D

How does it slide your hit boxes? Lets say if you where to cross a passage way with marines on both sides firing HMGs non-stop and you blinked across, you would still take damage? I thought that it just fully teleported you, not a slide or anything like that. =o

It doesn't really slide you... That's just how it calculates where you end up... It basically moves you there instantaneously...

It's instantaneous, I doubt you would take damage. The marines still count as obstacles, so you might end up popping up on front of the marine, which is bad or good depending on the situation.

A good fade can use blink to get around VERY quickly, and to make quick escapes. So make sure you reserve some energy from your acid rocket salvo for a blink, especially if you're in hostile territories with HMGs.

and it really has no distance limit, you can blink from the bottom of the elevator shaft next to Engine Hive all the way to the top... thats a long fkin way.

So you can't blink halfway down a hallway, you just end up at the end when you "hit" the wall?

exactly, and blinking "down hallways" doesnt always work. usually if its a straight walk on solid ground, blink wont work. its best used blinking onto something or over something or up to something.

it wont work in a small place or tunnel , btw when your blinking dont aim at any pipes becasue your more likly to blink into them

Sure you can blink only half way down a hallway. Just aim at the wall about half way down the hall. When you blink, you'll blink to that wall and be halfway down the hall. You blink at the location you want to go and you'll go there (but only as long as there's something to stop you).

An alternate to this (and probably easier to pull off) would be to blink at the ceiling of the hall half way down the hall. That way you're still blinking "up" and shouldnt have any problems with your hitbox hitting the floor.
