The rifle itself looks better, in the fps images though, the current gun seems to look better, maybe that's just because I'm used to it though.

Man, I'm so happy they changed the look of the rifle way back! I can't stand that Warhammer-look of the old model for the otherwise so lean, mobile and understating space marines. I agree with the statement in the news text that it now better fits its role; it's supposed to be the most basic weapon in the game, not some sort of BFG. The "new" model is superior in every way.

After re reading I think I was confused, I thought the one shown in the pictures in the second post was the new intended rifle? Is it the opposite.

I think you're still confused. Or I am. The post is 1 1/2 years old, so it appearing on the forums might have been a mishap. Anyway, the bulky design is ancient and has long been replaced by the slender design. At the moment there are no changes planned for the design of the Assault Rifle afaik.

Original one is kind of antic one. Hope if both models would be implemented as a option, or even as a different weapon with different functions. Old one with more bullet and less damage etc?

Look at it this way: the bulkier design went to the shotgun instead.

This is a very, very old post. We aren't planning any changes to the rifle.
